He's been great in both college and the NFL, few have done what he's done.

And he's obviously not finished yet.

Kinda had a bit of an advantage during his time at USC.

I’d put him just a step below “legendary”. Win another super bowl or two and he’s in the same discussion as Saban, Walsh, Bryant, Lombardi, Johnson, Hayes, etc. Belichick is pretty much the undisputed goat though

Certainly the only great coach to have a star player fake his own suicide in front of the team.

Saban was shite in the NFL. Carroll won a Super Bowl. If you’re judging just on college careers, Saban is better. But as as overall football coach, Carroll has done more given his championships at both levels.

Cheated heavily in college, then lucked into a franchise QB on the cheap.

He's on the good, but not great, coaching rank.

I’m judging on both NFL and college careers. Carroll is a better NFL coach than Saban but Saban is the greatest college coach of all time.

has he done more than Switzer or J Johnson? Carroll has one title in college and one title in the NFL. Does that really trump Saban's 6 titles in college? Sure, winning in both leagues is impressive but it's not a trump card either.

USC was a dumpster fire when he got there (lowest point in the school's history)

And Kiff, Sark and now Helton couldn't seem to do jack shite.

Or are you talking about the "help" of agents recruiting his players to leave the school early through financial incentive? Some help.

I’d love to see how successful Carroll would be if he went back to coaching college at a struggling big time program (besides usc)

Every program cheats in CFB. Reggie Bush got sloppy.

Won’t hold that against Pete

I’m not sure but it’s hard to imagine any coach enjoys the game as much as he does. I also think he’s probably a top 5 players coach.

Bryant is clearly the best. His run during the 60s-70s won't be matched.

Better than Saban both in college and NFL.

Not even close between the two.
