Are you only 6 years old? Auburn fans did the same with Newton and the Panthers even rooting against their own local teams in support of Cam.
Fans are more attached sometimes to players from their college teams than the pros. That will change now, but it’s understandable.
I used to be a Saints fan cause I grew up and spent most of my life in Louisiana. Was an LSU fan for the same reason plus I went there.
That said, Saints are an awful organization for multiple reasons and I care less and less about NFL each coming year.
In the end, fans of players will always support those players succeeding.
