Good lord. They're putting down a lot of horses all of a sudden. What's up with that?? Is this the norm? It sure seems high.

Hasn’t this been a thing that Aspy and other legitimate racing fans have had concerns about in the last 2 years?

My guess would be media hyping up the tragic stories for ratings coupled with some fricked up shite happening in the world of horse racing.

Fair grounds is an anomaly the weather has been crap

Santa Anita is Santa Anita

I saw a race yesterday at aqueduct where the three horse in the stretch broke down and his leg was literally dangling while he was trying to run

Bunch of 40 to one shots who got no business running

So would this qualify as a fricked up thing in racing?

Santa Anita has been a killer for ages, going back different owners, and incarnations.

That surface even killed horses when not full-on racing while filming HBO's Tilt..loved the show..but canned after 1 Season.

There have been articles the last 20 years...among knowledgeable people like Bill Nack who covered Secretariat.

The Breeding.

It's all about speed...and the fragile horses that were superfast got breed with superfast horses who also couldn't last.

The horse industry has breed a collection of horses that can only start a few races - there's no durability.

Bill Nack said its so fricked at this point and he was surprised the Triple Crorwn winner didn't break down like Barbaro.

The breeding has become from fragile horses but they were fast.

Nack said you're never gonna get another Citation, a horse that wins everyting, runs everything and runs forever handicapped with being weighed down.

The sport is garbage and only a matter of time before it's outlawed, along with other animal racing

The breeding. Trying to make them faster is creating more fragile structure in their legs.

That and the turf.

I’m jealous those horses get to be euthanized humanely whilst humans are left to linger and suffer.

I don’t think it’s so much the breeding. Our good stallions at least the ones for ash ford will go to Australia for their breeding seasons and I’ve seen horses down there run three times in a week

The real problem is the horse shortage in California and horses who got no business running are forced by management to run in order to get the bare minimum number of horses to run.

Santa Anita is just a shite show in and of itself

Yeah, 'Luck', my bad, have it on DVD, Nolte is fabulous. Hated that they pullled the plug on it.
