Haven’t followed them since they ran that option under Paul. Why do they suck so badly 2-8 this year sit in a beautiful state with some of the best talent in the country surrounding them? Also it’s a pretty awesome school I’ve heard what gives? Lack of focus on Athletics?

Well, they stopped doing that this year. Switching from a triple option to (what I assume, I haven't watched) a pro-style or "spread" offense is going to be pretty damn difficult in the first year.

Trying to switch from an option offense with 250-275lb offensive linemen who cut block, no WRs, and a running QB to a real team is such a difficult task.

It’s a 3+ year rebuild, if not more.

Answered your own question sort of. They lost a coach that had been there for a long arse time. On top of that, they switched from a team of 85 players recruited to run a triple option who are now having to learn an entire new system. Along with that, Georgia Tech May have restrictions on what athletes can get in due to academics. Not much of a mystery.

So... you haven't followed them since 2018 when Paul Johnson retired at the end of the season?

Not really they sucked with Paul too they were 7-5 or 8-4 on the reg. Should be better than that every so often.

They recruit against Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida St, etc. They're going to win one of those battles probably 1% of the time.

Their student body is a lot of foreign students and the domestic students are a lot of the types that don't care about football.

They don't have nice facilities.

I know they use the academic thing as an excuse but they can get any kid in that they want that qualifies via the NCAA clearinghouse. It's not like Georgia Tech is any better of a school than Michigan.

Were the two 9-4, one 10-3 and one 11-3 seasons with four division titles over his eleven seasons not "every" so often enough for ya?

Zero identity on offense. Constantly switching the QB's in and out. Their best option is to stick with Tobias Oliver. They are total trash this year.

I had heard they switched coaches didn’t realize he was switching up the entire offense. I’m sure that pisses off some of the players recruited to play in that style but have to abort from that shite at some point.

Major city cfb teams are never very good. I don't know why, that's just the way it is. USC might be the only exception.

I’m pretty sure they knew what style they were getting when they hired him.

That’s because most flagship universities are not in the major cities.

In general, the kind of guys you recruit with a triple option offense don’t tend to be NFL caliber because no one runs that at the next level so few talented players want to be there.

Obviously Tech had some big exceptions like Demarius Thomas but those are the exception rather than the rule.

Most pro offense or spread offense guys will transfer if you hire a triple option coach, which is why Navy’s coach didn’t get hired by Arizona. The reverse is highly unlikely to happen because most triple option schools are service academies who are unlikely to take in athletic transfers.
