I don't think I would even luck into 4 foul balls.
What’s the highest level of baseball you’ve played?

If you played high school ball, you could probably luck into 4 hits.

Pitchers do way better than that, and nearly all of them suck at hitting and probably sucked at hitting in high school too.

Agreed. The best of the best fail 70% of the time.

I went to the Louisville slugger factory as a kid. They had a booth there that had a pitching machine tuned to like 99-100 MPH and you could stand right next to it. You basically couldn't even see the ball . You just saw a slight blur at the mouth of the machine and then a very loud thud on the padding it hit.

I just stood there and watched it in amazement that MLB hitters could hit this with any consistency at all.
I mean, obviously it’s fast, so I’m not trying to undersell it, but it’s much more difficult to hit off a pitching machine because you don’t know exactly when the ball is coming.

With a live pitcher, you are loading up and timing his release before he even lets go of the ball. You’re ready to swing and start turning your hips as he’s releasing the ball. You can’t get ahead and load up like that with a pitching machine.

That they could race in NASCAR because they had no issues driving 80mph in midday Dallas traffic. Congrats you are driving your car at 2/10 of its capability, do it at 9 to 10/10 for 500 miles

I played all growing up but never competitively due to it being my 3rd sport so I’m relatively good with the ball at my feet. I just think 38 90 minute games you’d get the chance at atleast one tap in, and combined with me being 6’4 Id have a chance on set pieces I don’t think 5 would be that hard of a number to get to.

Had a college roommate that genuinely believed he could pick a winter sport, train for a year and make it to the olympics. This bitch was from houston, and an average high school athlete.

I feel like some Olympic sports are so obscure that if I dedicated myself to playing an obscure sport that I’d have a chance to make the Olympics. It’s too late for me now, but if I started a decade ago I feel like I’d have a shot.

Hitting major league pitching has to be the hardest thing to do in sports.

And this was exactly the same thing time after time and I could still barely see it

I cant even fathom breaking balls, changeups, arm slot, etc...

I have an argument with my friends that If I played every game and took every PK for the team in a Premier League season that Id be able to score 5 goals

You’d have to be on a good team and shoot lights out

Man City was only awarded 9 penalties and they scored 5 of them, so that’s the margin of error you’re working with

you're bound to run into a position player or two topping out in mid 60s. Which is a speed that if you just played to highest levels of rec ball you will have seen.

from there you would just need to be lucky enough for the ball to fall into no-man's land somewhere.

I had an ex that believed that she was good enough at softball to start for the UF championship team 5ish years ago. Her 35ish year old arse hadn’t seen a softball fast pitched while in the batter’s box in 20+ years, and argued that she was better than half the chicks on the field

Had a buddy that swore up and down to own a 1989 Mike Greenwell starting lineup figure in a fielding position. What an a-hole. Everyone knows he only came in a batting position.

I tell people I could make a WNBA roster tomorrow if they opened it up to true competition. I'm 6'6", 260 lbs, reasonably fit, terrible at basketball.

I’m 6’6” 225. Bad shape. Good at basketball.
WNBA tryouts
quote:

During the Tryout During your WNBA tryout, coaches and assistants will often start by breaking out players according to their position and size. From here, basic conditioning drills, such as sprints, relays and suicides, will be administered to gauge your overall speed and acceleration. Fundamental drills, such as layup lines, spot shooting and passing drills, will be implemented to give the coaches a feel for your skill set. A crucial part in most tryouts comes when a scrimmage is introduced. Players are assigned to teams and given numbers, then asked to play a pickup game while coaches watch and evaluate playing ability.

I’m gonna tryout. The WNBA has to allow trans, right? I’ll go fully bearded with old man nuts hanging out of my super short 80’s gym shorts. frick any bigot that tries to stop me.

With no prep time, these bitches would mop the floor with my arse during suicides/wind sprints. I’d kill it in the drills, and embarrass hos left and right for about 7 minutes during the scrimmage.

At least the top 500 WTA players would easily beat 99% of boy's HS tennis players. There is a tremendous difference between professional tennis and HS tennis regardless of sex. Now if you're talking D1 men's players most of them would beat female pros.

Most of the best pitchers I knew in high school were really good hitters. They just weren’t in the same level as D1 type hitters. Many MLB pitchers are phenomenal athletes. 4 actual hits off MLB pitching would be tough.

My cousin told me he could make 90 out of 100 free throws as long as he had someone rebounding cause it's "about getting in a rhythm." His only experience is playing for his private high school team.
