My dream is to go opening weekend of college football and sit my arse down with coffee and breakfast at 9am Vegas time and go to my room to sleep when the PAC 12 games end that night

I don’t go opening weekend, but I do this at least one college football Saturday a year. Have to get there a bit earlier though, like 7:30-8 to get a good seat, and I didn’t leave that place till 11pm. Quite possibly the best day of the year, every year.

A $20 bet on horses gets you a drink voucher compared to $100 for sports

Find a race with an overwhelming favorite. Bet $20 to show. If it wins you only win $2 or so, but you get a drink voucher. Drinks are $10-15. If you lose the bet, you are only out $5 extra dollars. If you win you can drink for free.

I would love to do this. Louisiana needs to get up and vote sports betting in. What you describe is my dream vacation unfortunately my better half wouldn’t agree lol

Orrrrrrrrr just make sure you tip the person at the desk when you make your sports bets. They seem to remember to give you a few drink tickets when you give them a few dollars

They tried, but John Georges is in the pockets of our politicians.

March Madness is awesome. Rest of the year is blah outside of maybe the Super Bowl or a championship game.

The downside I have seen, although this was years ago, is that you can’t use your phone in a sports book.

Better bring your copy of the racing form or have a notebook and pencil with your notes on the games you want to bet.

Search the internet and find out how to bet before approaching the sports betting "window". The folks that work there are not into friendly customer service
as the other casino employees. I have seen sportsbook personnel berate customers. If you are new, tell the guy or woman you are new. Don't say "Give me Mississippi State and the under against lsu". There will be a number beside Mississippi State on the board in the sporstbook. Refer to that number. That number will be the same across all sportsbooks. For example, if you see the number 899 by MSU, tell the person, "899". If you want a total, say "899 under". Check your ticket before you leave.

I go for the first NFL weekend every year. Fun times, but if you want to bet the early Sunday games, you will need to get to the sportsbook early. Games begin at 10 am.

Always been able to use my phone unless you’re actually making a bet.

A bunch of old fat guys that think they know more about sports than they actually do. Basically a MSB in person.

Watching the LSU/UGA game at the Aria sportsbook with a few thousand on LSU moneyline was one of the greatest experiences of my life, until we lost.

I haven't led a very interesting life, but yeah it was fun.

It's like going to a sports bar where all the patrons are very attentive to the games, and many of them are watching multiple games at once. You don't sit at tables like a restaurant--everyone faces towards the screen and everyone watches the games. If you're a chatty sort, don't go to a sports book to watch games. Go to a bar.

You don't have to stand in long lines to bet at a sports book. Just make your bets way before the games start.

You want to know what a high roller is? I've seen guys throwing tickets (the losers) on the floor for multiple $500 and $700 bets while still holding a handful of tickets for later contests. In the good sports books, a lot of the patrons are betting $100+ on multiple games/parlays, etc.

If you want a good seat, someone in your group is going to have to get up at the crack of dawn to go save seats.

Download the app for the book of the casino you want to bet at. Go to the window to fund the account. Make bets on the app. Don't have to worry about standing in line and missing kickoff/first pitch/tipoff/etc... With the app you can do in-game betting where odds change throughout the game. Plus you can see what the payout is before you submit your bet. Rattling off the right bet numbers, types and stuff can be a little intimidating for people new to sports bets. On the app you can bet as little as $2.

Unless you’re a VIP, you’ll wait in crazy long lines to make a bet. Then, you’ll have to stand up to watch the games as all other sitting areas are reserved for … VIP’s.
