What specifically changed for the Big 10? Why did they cancel to begin with?
How are these admin/university officials getting off the hook for the complete shite show they created?

Was it all political especially during an election year and poll numbers started looking bad?

How is nobody in the media calling out the complete reversal of these officials, presidents, admin of the Big 10?

Seriously what the frick changed from when they cancelled to now?

Public pressure and the realization they would be the only ones losing the money.

Any “popular” bad guy in a movie...that’s the Big 10. Everyone walked away from them because they saw how stupid and arrogant their actions were, just like in the movies.

They thought if they cancelled the other P5 conferences would fall in line. The SEC, the ACC/ND, and the Big 12 told them to pound sand.

Big 10 fans, players, and coaches were pissed at being left out in the cold.

Enough pressure finally built up and other sports - including the NFL and some CFB - have already shown that this could work.

The reason you don't see the same thing happening with the PAC-12 is they don't give a shite about football the way the other conferences do and aren't feeling the same levels of pressure. Say what you want about the Big 10, but they have a lot of fan bases that are pretty passionate about their CFB teams.

By saying "testing has improved" it's giving the presidents enough cover, and the media just eats it up. A lot of media members graduated from B1G schools.

The real reason, of course, is that a number of conferences refused to follow them.

The idea that the freaking Fun Belt could figure out how to play, but the mighty, rich B1G could not, is a hit to their ego that even they can't endure.

“As a conference, we have a platform,” Warren said. “I think we have a responsibility. We have a mechanism to pull people together. The hate that we have in our communities and the racism that’s occurred, it can’t go on any longer.”

quote:

Warren was devastated by the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. And in the wake of that killing, he’s made clear he’s prioritizing transformation from “the systemic issues regarding racism and hate” in the country. “I think we hit rock bottom on some of these political and social issues,” he said. “The only way we can go is up.”

Was politics to cancel. Just like Dim cities they wanted to shut everything down. The fact that no one followed and everyone appeared good to go as of a week ago showed them there error of their ways. The fact that MAGA will receive much credit for bringing them back is killing them slowly and I love it.

They never even gave a specific reason to cancel in the first place. Kevin Warren just stated “uncertainty.”

Lol wut...it was politics that brought it back. Y’all know Trump is depending on that Big 10 voter base. It’s all optics for Trump. Hence why he’s not pushing for the PAC 12 to resume too.

They were also chartering to vocal smug elitist portion of their fanbases. The types that think Michigan doesn’t pay recruits.

They didn’t realize there are just as much people that care about football up north as down south.

I’d be fine with the big 10 not playing

In addition to the monetary and "we thought others would follow" comments, they (conference and parents/players/fans) realized that the "scary" paper about heart issues wasn't quite as scary, or unique to SARS 2.0, as the media made it out to be.

Myocarditis issues was a major part of their alleged reason to cancel football. Apparently they no longer care about their players myocarditis issues.

They got sued for acting outside their by-laws. And the lawsuits were continuing to multiply week-by-week.

Heads will roll on this monumental blunder.

Because politics fricking cancelled it. Politics wouldn’t have had to get involved these presidents didn’t play politics to begin with.

Another big thing for the PAC12 is (IMO) the wildfires that are impacting the west coast, I think that's taken pressure away from it. They were saying that even if the CFB season was going on without the pandemic the OSU/Oregon game would've been cancelled due to the poor air quality.
