They should reach out to the dozen tribes that surround the DC area and seek their approval of the name change to cut the legs out from the NFL and change their name to the Indians...

Like Florida State as built a bond with the Seminole tribe and has their approval of the name, Washington should do the same with the tribes in the DC area...

Have their mascot be George Washington

It's gonna be weird when they have to get rid of their first name too.

Like the whole franchise entered witness protection.

frick that, you live by the sword, you die by the sword. You change nothing. You haven't caved yet, don't ever cave. Let them melt. Move the team to St. Louis or San Antonio and rebrand as a entirely new team, like Cleveland did with Baltimore before you change the name and stay in Washington.

From DC’s Wiki...so Snyder should call them the Piscataways

quote:

Various tribes of the Algonquian-speaking Piscataway people (also known as the Conoy) inhabited the lands around the Potomac River when Europeans first visited the area in the early 17th century. One group known as the Nacotchtank (also called the Nacostines by Catholic missionaries) maintained settlements around the Anacostia River within the present-day District of Columbia. Conflicts with European colonists and neighboring tribes forced the relocation of the Piscataway people, some of whom established a new settlement in 1699 near Point of Rocks, Maryland.[15]
