ESPN's Sal Paolantonio was among the many who got in on the fun: "Really, really, really nice people in a really, really, really crappy place," he pronounced. You know the drill: A boring, cold Hooterville filled with doublewides, gun racks, Hooters and Waffle Houses

I remember every sportswriter shitting on the city when it hosted the Super Bowl.
The big issue was not enough hotels. It was also pretty damn cold that week.

Tampa / St. Pete is infinitely better.
Infinitely better? No. Prettier beaches but the interior of Pinellas County is a dump that rivals anything you can find in Jax. I'd say the food scene in Jax is better too.
If you're young and single Tampa Bay gets the nod. Easily a better dating scene. Raising a family? It's a toss up.

Lots to do in Jacksonville and surrounding area all the way through the superbowl. Amelia Island, St.Augustine, Beaches, and it's only getting better with the team getting better and the buzz of the new stadium. Now do Buffalo and green bay from November all the way through May. Remember the jags have had like 3 winning seasons in the last 18 years but times are a changing and give me great weather 10 months out of the year.
I've got some good friends who live in various parts of the Jax Metro area as I call it, but for a city with so many people that is so large its really not built up like it.
Jacksonville Beach at least to this point has repeatedly voted down allowing really tall structures (i.e. the ginormous condo buildings you see in more popular vacation towns) from being built there to the detriment of the metro area at large in terms of income but to the benefit of everyone who lives around there.
Jax just elected a democrat mayor but its the first in like 30 years or something and she at least seems like a moderate.
Its really a hidden gem IMO. If you like the beach, fishing, or golf you've got it in spades and its usually cheaper and more accessible than other areas in FL.

Cincinnati.
My inlaws are all from there and as far as mid-size cities go, it's pretty bland. My wife, who's from there calls it a discount Pittsburgh.
I've been to a couple of games there as well, until recently when Burrow got to town and they finally became decent, the game day experience was pretty tame. Especially in comparison to their other divisional rivals in Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
Until recently, they were a mediocre team in a boring town. Now they're a good team in a mediocre town.
