Pels would...or should call his bluff. don't budge, he'll eventually have no choice but to report.

The 4 pick is a big piece, I know there's a drop off from 3 to 4 but there are some interesting guys there, I really like Culver. That's the Lakers top piece now, Ingram has a health concern and is probably a year away from being overpaid. Ball has already put it out there that he doesn't want to be in NO and has been a disappointment.

Winning the lottery in 2004 didn't help the Magic keep T-Mac and winning the lottery tonight won't help the Pelicans keep AD. If anything, a trade is a lot more likely with the Lakers moving up to #4. An offer of Ingram, Ball, and the #4 overall pick would be a pretty damn good package for a guy who's going to bounce in one year.

Start with trying to explain how you'll deal with a $109M cap next year, when you'll have to redo AD's deal to keep him here long term or face him walking.

With $92M in existing commitments-- hell, let's go $88M and say that someone signs Stanley Johnson to a qualifying offer that gets you off the hook for a little and the DPE for Davis designating him as a 35% player, that'll be roughly 38M a season-- that'll be a round down for the benefit of the Pels there, just to help.

That'll be roughly a 9 million dollar kicker to his current salary, pushing the Pels up around $97M, before the draft. The top pick will come with a salary slot just shy of 6M-- so that's $103M. 6M to fix the rest of the roster. Even tossing in the MLE, you aren't going to get a difference maker on the roster that can provide enough guard play to make the Pels more than a lower seeded playoff team.

You can hope and pray Davis doesn't want more than he's under contract for, but then you are playing with fire-- without a long term commitment from him, you are a decision away from being left out to dry. The only prudent thing to do, remains to trade him.

At this point why would AD rather play with a 35 year Lebron with few years left vs 7 with Zion?

AD just wants LA or NY for a shoe deal. Thats all that matters to him.

If I were the Pelicans GM I would not want Ball or Ingram unless it was to make salaries match and I would flip them right away. Ball can’t stay on the court and his dad still exists. Ingram shows flashes here and there but he’s going to want a max deal and i’m not committing $30 million plus a year for a guy who isn’t even a top 50 player.

Maybe the Pelicans can take them in the deal that I mentioned previously and pair each of them Solomon Hill and Moore in dumps for role players/picks.

The Grizzlies are taking Morant. Conley’s contract has an out after next season and they finally are done with Chandler Parson’s contract after that. They can build around JJJr, Morant and whatever lottery pick they get next year.

I’d probably take the Knicks deal though. Maybe swap out Mitchell Robinson instead of DSJ. Definitely add another 1st.

The 4 pick might as well be the 20 in this draft.

It may help the Pels leverage with other teams a little. But that’s it.

The Lakers have the same chance they had yesterday for AD.

Clipper, Knicks and Boston can all destroy this terrible trade. No one wants Ball bro and Ingram could be fricked for good

No way Pels keep AD after this past season. Last thing you want is his disgruntled arse getting into Zion's ear.

I would call the Bulls and trade him for Lauri Markkenon and Levine/Dunn, plus whatever makes the cap work.

If it were #2, no brainer. #3, definitely interesting. The drop off after the top 3 is pretty massive. What could happen is the Lakers decide to flip Lonzo to a 3rd team. If the rumor that Chicago would part with a pick for Lonzo is true, that would be a more interesting piece than Lonzo.

This. It’s like ppl forgot Ingram has blood clots. He’s worthless right now in an AD trade, and if I’m the Pels I’m more inclined to trade him to an Eastern team.
