“We’re about to see Booker against a Nets team without Kyrie and KD.”
Posted by ReauxlTide222 on 2/16/21 at 9:54 pm824
Things need to be adjusted.
The NBA needs to move to a ~65 game season.
MLB needs to move to a ~100 game season.
We all want to watch games that seem important. We want the best matchups. We want the athletes to care.
Why would we not put more weight on each game while giving the athletes more time to stay healthy?
Less games would give us better and more important matchups and healthier athletes.

Good luck getting them to take the pay cut involved.

Who is taking the pay cut?

Players, owners, networks if you're cutting 17 games.

Maybe.
You don’t think players would be willing to give up some profits if they knew they had optimal rest and health while they worked through their careers?
frick owners. Owners will be owners. If we go to a 65 game NBA season that demands max effort from athletes and viewership increases why would I care about the owner? They care about money. I care about the product and the athletes’ being engaged.

Yeah, that means they're going to want their money.

Why do you think that when over half the league makes the playoffs?

They care about money.
All the decision makers care about the money so that's the direction they're going to follow.

Less games = less money.
It’s pretty cut and dry

It wouldn't be a big paycut because the tv ratings for each gane would be higher. I would watch a lot more If i knew the NBA only had 60 or so games and each one meant a lot more and all the players would play and be into it.

Why
You think MLB players are going to give up 39-40 percent of their salary. And do you think nba players are going to give 21-22 percent. Get real.

You’re assuming a ton with zero basis
Also higher ratings per game doesn’t necessarily mean more revenue. The TVs deals are where the big money is and that’s based on number of games played (with ratings factored in of course), and so even if you raised the ratings, you’re already behind the 8 ball massively because you’ve cut your TV money and your gate sales down by 25 percent
Less time on TV, less ad revenue, less value for TV networks
Notice the theme of all this is “Less”

It's unrealistic Pollyanna thinking. Might as well ask for ticket prices to get cut in half and nudes of a cheerleader waiting under your seat when you get to the game.

Can you show any proof of this, or is it just a wild arse guess.

It wouldn’t take some master manipulator to out them.
If it’s something they value then they’d have lawyers for days working with them.
I don’t believe that these here athletes want more games and more revenue.
If they do, then out them as lying pieces of shite. If they want to change things, then let’s work with them.

Owners aren’t relying on the NBA to feed their kids.
Revenue is old. Players will get paid no matter what.

You honestly think the players want less revenue? What?

They still want to make as much money as possible. Surely you know that.

You’re going to have to also cut down on how many teams make the playoffs then.
When a team has Lebron/AD, Harden/KD, Kawhi/PG etc. and more than half the league makes the playoffs, they are not ever going to have to give max effort all season.
