Both of these are two of the weirder sits we've ever seen in a Super Bowl. Each seemed like some sort of weird self-imposed penalty.

I give the slight edge to the Gurley sit as he just looked infinitely more explosive than Anderson's fat arse yet we have no clue why he was out.

Someone even posted the stat that some player tracking software had him as the fastest player of the game. So weird.

Well Gurley sat most of the Saints game, too.

Well Belichick sat Butler in that game because he was pissed at Kraft. He basically lost that game on purpose

Gurley was on the bench for the majority of the playoffs. Really strange!

I’d say Malcom Butler; I think it may come out that Gurley was hurt more than they let on. Maybe good enough to handle a light workload; but not good enough to go 100%.

Butler was 100% healthy.

I guess, but what sort of injury can you handle a bit of load but not a full load? Typically that applies to practice or maybe conditioning, but once you're full-go (and he was on his runs, looked so much more explosive than Anderson) then I can't remember an instance where someone was limited.

I agree. And it’s the Super Bowl, not regular season. When he played he looked good. Why not play him early and often until his injury showed?

CJ Anderson was the primary back for the Rams going into the super bowl.

Gurley isn’t injured. He just wasn’t the starter.

Something was definitely wrong with Gurley. He obviously wasn’t upset on the sideline so I’m thinking he was either on board with the decision to limit his time or he was part of the decision.

It was weird though bc he seemed fine when he played.

define starter, considering he
1) STARTED the game
2) had more touches.

In what way wasn't he the starter?

Yeah it was almost like it was a team decision to just have Cj Anderson play more to allow Gurley to rest. But Gurley seemed more effective against both the Saints and the Pats but seemed to be on the bench on the drives that mattered.

Top 5 in MVP discussion to splitting carries with a guy they picked up off the street at the end of the year. Something was up.

I'm pretty sure Gurley was injured and the Rams were being really protective of him.

He did about as much as he could but clearly he wasn't 100%

Why do people assume Gurley was injured? He looked fine when he played and both he and McVay said he wasn’t injured

In the Super Bowl? Come on. Every other game of the year maybe, the Super Bowl you Say F it to you injuries outside of maybe a concussion and play to win.
