I’m struggling to remember the last time a #4 was relevant and didn’t win it all.

Why should we sacrifice glorious games in November for 8 undeserving teams.

OSU in 14 won it as a 4

Should I stand corrected?

I don’t understand your argument that you want a competitive 4 that doesn’t win the natty. A 4 has won it twice and a 3 won it last year. So wouldn’t that show that initial expansion was justified

and no telling how many years a 5 or 6 would've had a better showing than the 4 or even the 3.

This year we don’t even need 2

It’s Georgia. Crown them

There’s still two games left for them

The same Georgia that only beat UK by 10, and struggled at Mizzou?

Are there 4 teams that are clearly better than the rest? I think anyone in the top 12 could beat anyone if I’m being honest. No dominant teams this year.

If you wouldn't be interested in some of the match ups that a 12 team playoff would bring, particularly this year, then you probably belong on the soccer board. Maybe teams 5-12 usually won't have much of a shot if there is a clear cut #1, but the match ups along the way will be fun.

Because generally they are better teams. That 4th spot is where they shoehorn a conference champ in that shouldn’t be there. Iowa, Michigan state, Cincinnati, notre dame, etc.

I agree, but the team you are going to suggest already got beat by a team that won a game.

After seeing Tennessee get blown out the water by an average South Carolina team. And UGA Michigan, and Ohio State all barely beat some average teams.

Im pretty sold on expanding the playoff beyond 4.

This too. You can't convince me that TCU is one of the best 4 teams in the nation. If they end up in they will get destroyed. Let them go through a more deserving, lower seed, earlier in the playoffs and then the actual final 4 should be more competitive.

Even some of the biggest fans of expansion will come to regret the 12 team CFP

Fair.

But the season ends in October, and you won’t ever get excited about USCe beating Tenner in late November again

Just like Cincinnati last year.

It seems like this year would produce a wildly entertaining 12 team playoff.
