I know...random topic, but talk about the saying "when it rains, it pours." Denver had a 10-0 lead going into the second quarter. They scored on their very first play from scrimmage and just shellacked the Redskins in the opening quarter. Within 15 minutes, however, Denver completely collapsed and trailed 35-10 at halftime. Doug Williams threw 4 touchdown passes in that quarter alone.

Denver doesn't always lose the Super Bowl but, when they do, they lose in epic blow out fashion.

They're tied for the most Super Bowl losses.

Still not as bad and awesome as 28-3.

Those Denver teams were there because of one reason. Elway. He took heat for those stinkers but they don't get close to a super bowl without him

That’s funny because at the time losing the Super Bowl is what they were known for. Going into that game people were saying they don’t want to lose and become like the Vikings. Of course they lost and got hammered by the 49ers the next year to go 0-4, like the Vikings. They are 3-1 since.

Maybe the prettiest pass I've ever seen is the first throw of the 2nd quarter when Doug Williams hit Ricky Sanders in stride on a go route for 80 yards.

It definitely was the biggest pure swing of momentum in a Super Bowl that I can remember. I remember it even looked like Doug Williams had a game-ending injury when it was 10-0. I know SB LI had the Patriots owning the 4th quarter against the Falcons, coming back from down 19.

But, SB XXII had the Redskins gain more than 350 yards and score 35 points in one quarter, on less than 20 offensive plays.

They also had the benefit of a terrible division, which inflated their record and forced teams to play at high altitude.
