Of course. They used the 4th overall pick on him.

Why would he not start over Yeldon?

This. Yeldon is a classic 3rd down back in the NFL, and Fournette is a #1.

Yeah. 4th pick vs 36th pick. If they didn't intend for him to start over Yeldon, they wouldn't have drafted him that high.

If you're drafted in the top half of the first round, you're intended to immediately supplant the guy that's already there.

Running back is a position, maybe more than any other, that can come in and make an immediate contribution.

It would be more odd to me if they took LF #4 overall and did not start him.

I thought you were insinuating they are starting him no matter what because he is a high pick.

I'm not insinuating. I'm stating.

Aren't 3rd down backs smaller and shiftier. The smaller guys normally get relegated to 3rd down duties because they can't stand up to the rigors of fulltime duty.

Right?

If your cock fell off and caught fire immediately, I'd be ok with it after you posting this gif...

Pretty much. But it is a passing game these days. 3rd and anything longer than 4 yards, you'd rather have a back that can take a screen pass and make someone miss

or that can pick up a defender and protect the QB

or kick it outside and get to the edge quickly

I think more of hands, ability in open space, pass pro, and speed to the outside. But those things alot of time correlate to size, you're right about that.

And we, unfortunately, know just how good Yeldon can be on 3rd down with space

Holee shite was I furious walking down the ramp after that play.
