One of my housemates is a VT alum. Fuente is in hot fricking water. Tulane is outrecruiting VT.

Fuente bombing out is one of the biggest disappointments I can remember. Dude did a great job at Memphis.

Didn’t do a great job at Memphis. He was above average and caught lightning in the bottle with the flavor of the week era we live in with coaches.
Not to mention, Blacksburg probably isn’t the easiest place to sell a recruit. It’s been almost 20 years that Vick was there. What exactly are they trying to sell recruits?

As great Fuente was here, he was always a poor recruiter.
He got by with the previous HC's legitimately good recruits.
Never knew why Fuente thought he could get by without being a recruiter in Appalachia. Should have taken a more cosmopolitan HC job.

I don’t know about that. Fuente did the hard part, taking them from a team in the cellar of CUSA. They’d gone 2-10, 1-11, and 2-10 the 3 seasons before Fuente. He took them from the bottom of CUSA, transitioning to a better AAC and got them a 1st place tie for the AAC in his 3rd year along with 10 wins.
