Legendary University of Texas Longhorns quarterback Vince Young whipped the opening night audience for Ballet’s Austin’s “The Nutcracker” into a veritable frenzy.

Flashing a big-league smile and an easily deciphered hand signal, Young donned the giant, frilly Mother Ginger costume during the second act of the holiday treat. For his celebrity cameo appearance, Young brandished a mirror and oversized lipstick before urging the house to join him in rhythmic clapping. (The cameo role changes with each performance.)

Just an FYI, this role is typically played by a man. A very non-feminine man. The guy that’s played it in my daughters production the last two years has a very full beard and did the Macarena this year.

Kudos to Vince.

Are you insinuating that Vince Young is not a UT legend? Because you would be totally wrong.

He's not only a legendary Texas QB but a legendary College QB.

His game against Southern Cal to win Texas the national title is something I'll tell my kids I watched. I'm no Longhorns fan but what a performance that was.

Hopefully he’s found some sort of peace. If this is something he enjoys, good for him. He was in a dark place.

What’s funny about that? Vince is a legend at UTexas regardless of how his pro career turned out.

Meh...it's a thing they do at Ballet Austin - there's a lot of famous/semi-famous people around town that play that role for one show through the run time.

True story, user genro got food poisoning in the Cayman Islands and watched the legendary 2005 Rose Bowl from a hospital bed while hooked up to an IV and drifting in and out of consciousness

His performance against usc is arguably the most legendary single game performance in college football history

He's the football version of Kentucky great Jack Givens.

Brilliant college career with a legendary performance in the National Championship game, only to go on and have an almost non-existent pro career.

He won two Rose Bowls. Not sure how much more people want.

Vince is probably the best player to never win a Heisman. Certainly the best QB
