there's a lot of unwarranted Lane Kiffin hate in here. it seems like the popular thing to do is hate on him for whatever the reason may be. he took over a program that got smashed by the NCAA. he was doomed from the beginning. it was just a terrible decision by him to take the job when there was a lot of smoke.
kiffin will bounce back. he's only 38 and has reached the mountain top in the types of job he's gotten. he will bounce back more humble the next time.

Coaching is all about who you know...and buddies and repaying favors. It's the most incestuous profession out there. The same fools keep being fired and rehired because the keep the fraternity small...and blackball people on the way up.
If Monte Kiffin had never been Pete Carroll's mentor, Lane Kiffin would never had gotten his gig at USC as a favor to Dad from Petey...and Norm Chow would have remained the OC...and USC would still be rolling.

Don't know why so many schools/people pull this shite when firing people.
It seems reactionary after a game and away from the school.

Kiffin is a liar and certainly hasn't shown that he could win on his own when coaching a team. Hopefully he finds a small college where he can be a OC (the job he at least seemed competent doing) for a decade. Then he can come back with most people surprised he's still around and coaching. That's his best shot at becoming a coach again.

Also the Niners will announce him as Harbaugh's replacement on Monday. Regarding the NCAA giving PSU a reprieve because of their new found commitment to compliance and rejecting SC's second appeal (despite the fact that SC's compliance department is now arguably the MOST stringent in the nation) stinks of an agenda. SC should sue the hell out of the NCAA, IMHO. Interested to hear from SFP and other legal beagles here if they believe a case can be made.
