I love how they act like they have it so fricking bad. They can go to any grocery store and buy as many steaks and beer as they want and have a damn party.
They can also shop anywhere they want, go to a park, own real estate, and have a job.

I always see a lot of “never understood why they played it to begin with” or “euro soccer doesn’t do it” in anthem threads.

It’s funny how many people in this thread are using the excuse that nobody noticed until now, so why should we care?
Well, considering the arenas are mostly empty and TV broadcasts don’t show it, there’s a pretty good reason why it’s not noticed.
I’m crossing my fingers this is because it’s not an extremely important exercise in an empty arena. That said, I don’t think the anthem is strictly for government recognition, or extreme patriotism. Hell, it’s a time of reflection. I often use it to think how fortunate I am to be in a venue watching a game instead living in a shithole country waiting for my next loaf of bread.
Unfortunately, seems like we have lots of dipshits in here that think it’s too much to give that time up, listen to a song, honor the country you are fortunate to live in, and reflect upon something...anything.
