Ha, not normally my thing. But, Rublev does crack the ball and Med hits so unorthodox that I might like the freakshow for a bit.
Shapo is so exciting and frustrating to me that anything from here on out is going to be a slight letdown. As much as I don't want Busta in the finals, at least he wouldn't melt like Alex is capable of. Thiem/Med semi is likely for the championship.

What does he do that makes him exciting that Thiem doesn't do?

I don't know, man. It's something about the aggressive/attacking style. I have a ton of respect for Thiem, but I don't love seeing guys play 10 feet behind the baseline, for the most part (Med is a slight exception here). Speaking of which, my god, the set point he saved, I think at 5-6 in the breaker -- he has done this a few times recently and I'm not sure how it's possible. Med is a few feet behind the baseline and pretty much outside the doubles alley, but can somehow blast a flat backhand shot up the line that lands in. We've seen Rafa do this a bunch with hook/spin forehands, but I don't know how someone can drive a ball on that trajectory without taping it or spraying it long. Looked like from the highlights like Rublev should have won that first set.

Love how there’s still a big delay between day and night sessions even though there’s literally no crowd.

I noticed with Armstrong, they didn't bother with two sessions this year. I think the break on Ashe is really for TV purposes.

Yeah he was up 5-1 and 6-3 in the tiebreaker. I was already making plans to take him if it went 5 given Med’s 0-6 record in 5 setters.

I assume you meant the winner wins the Championship?

Yup. The only scenario I can see for the other half is if Thiem/Med play five hours and have nothing in the tank.

Forgot about the extra day off. That has to favor PCB after the 5 setter. I really like his price vs. that choke artist.

Damn. Helluva tournament from Brady though.
