Think it happens?
Fake news?
UConn alums day they rather be FCS in football and back in the Big East for basketball if that’s what it would take

Who takes their spot in the AAC?

Seems like the logical move. Will see if the admin is too prideful to drop down to fcs though.

If Birmingham can prove they are going to get the new stadium done, I think UAB would be a decent option.
They fit the metro feel of the American and add a new state to the conference.

would assume they would drop football

Reading some things, it sounds like this is more than just a rumor. Seems like close to a done deal.

They have a pretty big facility to just drop football. I think they’ll play in the CAA on the FCS level like Villanova.

Really the American will have to choose between adding a good fan base or adding a big market.
Fan base options:
Army (football only)
La Tech
Southern Miss
Georgia Southern
App State
Metro options:
Georgia State
UAB
Old Dominion
UTSA
Buffalo
Toledo
Or if they just want cash, Liberty would probably throw like $30 million to get in the American

A Big East spokesperson said Saturday morning the conference had no comment.
Would UCONN be the 2nd or 3rd non-Catholic school? Is DePaul a Catholic school?

UConn will join Big East in all sports it sponsors likely in 2020, sources told

. It’s unknown whether UConn football will remain in AAC, play in another FBS conference - perhaps MAC or C-USA - or go independent, source said. 1st reported by
