THey are tenth in the Pac 12 currently and were they a Big 10 team they would be last in recruiting.

I wonder if the Big 10 truly wanted USC and UCLA ended up being part of a package deal.

Chip Kelly isn’t a good recruiter. Not sure the conference in which they play matters.

Just wait til they have a 9am Pacific kickoff in 40° sleet in Bloomington, Indiana.

Those Cali recruits are gonna line right up to join.

Everyone knows FUCLA piggybacked USC to the Big10. But they're not there for football but basketball. If a Conference poached Kansas, they wouldn't say...now don't slouch on football recruiting.

Why would something that isn’t happening for several years help their recruiting now? Also, how many Cali kids give two shits about playing schools like Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska? Hell most probably don’t even care about Wisconsin and Michigan State either. They may get a metric frick ton of TV money but I really think abandoning all their old rivals for impossible to attend road trips is going to drive their fan base and recruiting even further into the abyss.

the only two games UCLA and USC are losing that they care about is stanford and cal and i think theres not an awful chance stanford ends up in the B1G at some point, and it would be pretty easy for both schools to set up some kind of regular game with cal in football and play them even more frequently in the other sports

Cal and Stanford are going to give them the finger if they get left behind. Also you are lying to yourself if you don’t think UCLA fans will miss games against Oregon and Washington. Plus travel to nearly every BTN school will be horrible. The only school in the PAC that would require a flight is Wash and w/them being in Seattle flights can be had for cheap and are frequent enough that you could easily make a short weekend if it. You wouldn’t even need to really rent a car.

TV networks goading all these schools into killing the regional nature of the sport is horrible for its long term health.

UCLA will be cellar dwellers in football in B10

The kickoff times will be much more of an issue than they anticipated

If you’re a UCLA fan, what reason are you going to have to tune in?

Contending for a title? That’ll very rarely be the case for UCLA

Rivalries? Only 1 on the future schedule

Bowl games? We’re told no one cares about those anymore

What is there to be excited about?

Honestly Nebraska hasn’t been the same moving to the Big 10 since they lost most of the connections to recruiting Texas that they had in the Big 12. West Virginia is another school that comes to mind when they left the Big East and haven’t been able to recruit the state of Florida like they used to now that they are in the Big 12.

I don’t think this move is going to help UCLA or USC in many ways except for TV money

It’s not UCLA, it’s alumni and boosters, it’s athletes, coaches, and fans. It’s this colossal douchebag…

Newsom is now taking on the banner of the same university presidents that he shrugged off when it suited him on the high-profile NIL issue, the same higher education leaders who have watched their athletic departments lose their souls in pursuit of the almighty football dollar and looked the other way as the donations from proud alums piled up.

Newsom conveniently forgets he pushed NIL domino

i have absolutely zero care about playing washington or oregon ever again in any sport of any kind

i will miss stanford and cal. and there is a non zero chance stanford ends up in the B1G in the not too distant future

Bad coaching and disinterested star players usually don’t lead to success.

That kinda drives the point home even more. Now the B1G powerhouses can dig their claws into the Cali market even more. So if a recruit enjoys the west coast lifestyle, why choose a struggling UCLA when tOSU is in the same conference now.

Or maybe he goes to USC or UCLA with a more national audience week in and week out

The Pac-12 had almost no exposure in comparison to the other four conference let alone the SEC and B1G

Ohio St in football is so much more advanced than UCLA

A Cali recruit that chooses to stay in Cali at UCLA is going to regret their decision when they 3-8 and have to go to Indiana for a 9am kickoff.

If you’re going to OSU you likely have a future in the NFL and location matters little. The brand, development, and playing in the playoffs.
