Videos of both technicals included in link

quote:

Less than 48 hours removed from a game that lasted through four periods of overtime, the Atlanta Hawks are playing the Chicago Bulls again, this time in the Windy City. Just as he did on Friday, Trae Young was still putting up points with ease on the Bulls—though admittedly not quite at the same rate. Chicago guard Kris Dunn was clearly sick of this kid decimating his team with regularity and his frustration with the rookie spilled over in the first quarter.

After Young shot the ball post-whistle, Dunn walked right through the point guard as he was holding his shooting stance. Young threw an arm out and Dunn retaliated by smacking Dunn on the head. Teammates eventually intervened and not much came out of it beyond double-techs.

A couple quarters later, Young was feeling his shooting hand heat up and decided to take a three from near the logo, as he often does. When the ball went in with ease, he decided to celebrate the moment with a stare down of his defender, Dunn. The officials on the court decided that his act of aggression was too malicious for this beautiful sport and gave Young his second technical foul of the game, which led to an ejection.

Looks like Young is Dunn in this game

I watched. That was as bad an ejection as I've ever seen.

Ref needs to apologize and then resign.

If that is now a technical in the NBA then Steph Curry will not complete a game again. He is always staring down his opponent after hitting a contested three.

I’d love for the NBA to get another Rasheed Wallace. Draymond has similar temperments but he’s not quite Sheed.

I wonder how many "Don't fricking shoot from there!" thoughts it took for Lloyd pierce to realize Young can make those.

I feel like Steph normally is pumping up the fans, not dissing the other team, but I get your point.

People get techs way more often than I’d like for staring someone else down. Generally just happens after a poster dunk.

I was watching this game on League Pass and was pissed. What a great advertisement for the NBA on free league pass weekend.

the deciding factor is whether you are specifically targeting an opponent with the staredown or celebration.

Just saw this..
Embarrassed yet AGAIN for the NBA and whatever it is supposed to represent and be these days. It FINALLY becomes entertaining again with brilliant young talent across the league and they immediately try to neuter them. This from the league that LITERALLY had officials fixing and deciding games less than a decade ago.
Sports are quickly going to find themselves in deep shite if they don’t stop this across the board

So he got ejected not for staring at an opponent, but for receiving two technical fouls.

When you already have one technical foul, it might be wise to not taunt your opponent after a made bucket.
