I still have hope for Cardinals to make the playoff this year. With those two starting pitchers should help somewhat until two of the Cardinals top starting pitchers come back from rehab later in August.

I can’t see them getting in. 9 games back in the division
6.5 back in the Wild Card.

Adding two shitty old pitchers didn’t move the needle either. I’m guessing that they didn’t give much up to acquire Happ and Lester but I found the moves puzzling.

Cardinals needs starting pitching help until two of their top pitchers get back from rehab. That will be sometimes in August.

Lester has an ERA over 5.00, and Happ’s ERA is almost 7.00. That’s not the kinda help I’d be looking for.

Did Lester ever learn how to throw pick off at 1b?

Was legitimately surprised when I saw his photo/trade news on ESPN.

Disclaimer: I was sitting in a sports bar and happened to glance sideways at the tv which happened to have ESPN on. Might have been ESPN 2, I didn’t want to watch too closely and be ostracized from the board.

It's amazing Mo'ron still has a job.

It's further proof that BDW only wants to compete, not win. Keep the menstrual flood(red shirts) flowing thru the turn stiles.

Fans are starting to revolt slowly, can only hope more and more stop buying tickets. Until then, BDW continues to line his pockets.

When they picked up Carpenters option after his horrendous year and a half, at 18mil, instead of working out a deal in the low millions, it was further proof, they had no ambition to really win, just compete.

This is who BDW is playing towards. Worrying about maybe competing for the last wild card, while 9 out.

Not pissed about the state of the roster, and the shite deals Mo'ron makes. And the asinine contracts to older players that they continue to give.

Lefty. Put here slinging dumb hot takes. They just traded for essentially two bad geriatric SPs to give them one of the oldest rotations in baseball if not the oldest.

The organization is a clown show right now. It sucks.

Admittedly, moving to the weaker league will help Happ, as long as he isn't facing an NL West lineup, but good God has he been garbage all year.

If that's help, they need way more than help.

You guys melt way too much, this is a transition year and everyone knew it.

Org is in a great spot for next year with youth galore and 70M off the books.

Carpenter 18.5M
Fowler 14.75M
Miller 12M
Martinez 11.7M
Molina 9M
Waino 8M (retain)
Kim 4M

77.95M, or about 48% of total payroll this year off the books.

Bader 2M
Reyes 900K
Edman 596K
O'Neill 594K
Carlson 577K

Obviously some of those guys will get arb bumps next year but still cheap and controlled and set for awhile with all being young and developing nicely.

Gorman and Liberatore are both right at the cusp of readiness right now.

As a Cub fan I can tell you there is not a more fierce competitor that I've ever seen as Jon Lester.

Dude's best days are in the past and the fact that he even has an ERA of 5 right now is due to his experience and moxie, cause the stuff just ain't even at the 5.00 level any more and if he doesn't get 2 inches off the corners he's gonna grind and fight but he's going to struggle to stay in the game.

This is BS. Nobody thought it was a transition year back in March. The offense never clicked at the same time, the bullpen sucked except for 3 pitchers and they've been slammed with injuries in the rotation and outfield.

Everything else you said I agree with.
