Also,

Casey Stengel
Red Auerbach
Rod Dedeaux
Chuck Noll
Don Shula

Baseball has a recency bias. Sparky Anderson, Billy Martin and Earl Weaver are all at least as good as Cox and LaRussa.

Paul Brown should be in everyone’s top 10 of all time coaches. His innovations, tree, etc is ridiculously amazing.

I love Bobby Cox, but no way IMO does he deserve to be on this list.

The only baseball manager I would put in the top 10 is Joe McCarthy. Actually, he's probably the best coach/manager in the history of North American sports. There was a book written about the impact baseball managers have on their teams called "Evaluating Baseball’s Managers: A History and Analysis of Performance in the Major Leagues" by Chris Jaafe. McCarthy managed in the majors for 22.5 years. Over that stretch of time, McCarthy was worth 145 wins to his team. For comparison's sake, that's more wins than Babe Ruth was worth to his team during his career. It's more wins than Mickey Mantle, Tom Seaver and Bob Gibson was worth to their teams COMBINED. Essentially, McCarthy was such a brilliant strategic baseball mind that his impact on his team was comparable to having three HOF players for their entire careers. That's how good he was as a manager. The likes of LaRussa, Cox and every other manager in the history of baseball is galaxies behind McCarthy as a manager.

Chuck Noll took over a franchise that had never won a postseason game in nearly 40 years of existence and led them to four Super Bowls in six years.
