They claim 1970 but lost the Rose Bowl and finished 5 in the AP and 2 in the coaches.

Then you have that controversial 2002 title game they won.

damn

I had no idea the ACC had more national championships (Clemson 3, FSU - 3, GT - 1/2) than Ohio state and Michigan since 1980. Big 10 football history is not as great as the media portrays it to be.

Poll titles were handed out before bowl games up until the mid-70s, around when champion Bama lost to ND, I think.

The Big Ten’s argument, historically, is “We play for conference titles and Rose Bowls” and “We beat each other up too much.”

The SEC knocks the shite out of each other on a weekly basis yet some team usually comes out with 0-1 losses and kicks the shite out of other champions.

THE Ohio State.

Almost guaranteed a playoff berth every year along with Clemson and Oklahoma due to their shitty conferences.

Missouri played Bama tougher, and gave up 200 less yards of offense to the tide.
