The recovery from 9-11 began within a week. Natural disasters have cancelled events in isolated areas. What we are looking at now is unprecedented.

Panic on basketball courts

No fans in arenas

Postponements of seasons

We will look back on this years from now and realize that nothing like it happened before or since. Good or bad, this is a historical moment.

All I can hope for is we can look back on this time and laugh and say it wasn't even a big deal. Because the alternative is that this does end up being as bad as hyped and we're all fricked

My tune has changed quite a bit in 24 hours. I still think much of what we have seen is panic driven, but the spread is rapid. I must agree, it’s time to cancel, postpone, or keep crowds out of many events.

Sporting events are cancelled while elementary and high schools are still going. This doesn’t add up and is very questionable. The timing is very strange as well, we’ve been having huge tournaments and games all over the country so that population is already infected anyway.

You think you've seen it all and then "well, never seen this happen before"

The head of NIH on coronavirus task force said this may be 10x deadlier than flu. We know how contagious it is. Add in no vaccine and we don’t know when it ends. Italy closed down their whole country. So I don’t considered what we did is panic.

I was discussing this earlier today. Where do you draw the line? So it’s not okay to drive to an arena and attend a game, but it is ok for your child to walk the halls of a school with over a thousand students? It’s ok for that to happen AFTER many students go on Spring Break?

I mean, the virus isn't much of a threat to those younger than 70 without respiratory issues. There is no chance that this thing becomes a mass murderer, rather everyone is just trying to contain a new virus that there is no real treatment for yet.

Once the weather warms up, this will be a non-factor, but right now, everyone is rightfully hellbent on containing this thing.

He is saying this based on skewed sample sizes.

At least women’s sports are unaffected.

Is it somehow going to start killing tf out of people younger than 70 or 80?

Because if not, there’s no way it becomes as bad as hyped.

I’m not worried about football season *yet*, but I’m worried the olympics will be cancelled.
Once every four years and of course this shite hits on one of the four years.

Evidently children are not getting sick, with only 2% of the confirmed cases people under 19 years old. So if you suspend school, who is taking care of all the children for the healthcare workers in the United States? Almost 40% of nurses in the country have children in school.

Infectious disease specialist on the Rogan podcast said that about 35% of all nurses have kids either in daycare or all the way up to high school. If these kids cant drive or stay home alone, do the nurses leave the hospitals (already overwhelmed) to care for their children?

Also an elementary school is must more tamed than a 15k person event with more or less different people attending every time

No tournament for the first time since it’s inception? This is truly incredible.
