Once again, why were non football schools allowed to vote ?? That's like letting people who don't own property and never plan on owning property to vote on raising property taxes.....
This is something that is almost never brought up. Biggest joke out of it all. Not to mention there are way more publics then privates. The whole switch wasn't fair from the beginning. I was able to attend one of the meetings.. whole thing is a joke based off of one Curtis beating Winnfield's dream team.

We should ban team depth.

Zomg privates can pull from out of their attendance zone. Jesus what a moronic statement. That is more than off-set by the fact that tuition has to be paid and that kids must sit out a year to be eligible.

Curtis pulls a lot of these kids in middle school therefore they don't have to sit out. They also offer "tuition assistance"

Didn't you know every private school has Harvard style endowments and everyone goes for free?
Posted on 12/15/13 at 1:06 pm to Shoulderchoke
Is this just about curtis or all privates?
Posted on 12/15/13 at 1:07 pm to GhostofJackson
Bm's endowment makes harvard look like a homeless person
Posted on 12/15/13 at 1:07 pm to Shoulderchoke
Yeah, tuition assistance is work study, not free money.
Posted on 12/15/13 at 1:08 pm to GhostofJackson
Yea when bm had dj. He was a part of the work study program. He would work during his off period.

We all know it's just about Curtis
Let the play up in football only and be done with it.

Why? Their enrollment is 2a. Why should they be put at such a major disadvantage?

Whiny? When the entire upheaval in the statewide organization was driven by "no one wants Curtis"?? And my two kids got eliminated by Curtis at Curtis 3 out of their 5 years? Principal Griffin drove tearing apart the entire LHSAA because her boys got crushed by Curtis ONCE. And all the big boys made sure they didn't get them either. I think my personal beef is pretty legitimate. Are all the 5A and 4A schools passing rules making sure they didn't have to play Curtis whiny too? Whining about Curtis drove all this upheaval, I'm just joining the crowd.

You seem to be pretty vocal of all the whiners. So far I understand you think depth is not fair plus having work study, which every private school in the country has, is bad.
Posted on 12/15/13 at 1:33 pm to Icansee4miles
Curtis used to play 4a in days when you could play as up as you wanted. they chose 4a. in those days Evangel played all the way up to 5a.

Uhighs tuition is 2k less than Curtis and your facilities are worth millions more. You have an unfair advantage.

Uhigh does same thing

As has been explained, they only played up to 4A so their other teams didn't get crushed like ECA's did. Idk what they would with a football only opportunity. This split only applies to football, so it helps highlight both the hypocrisy and that its all about Curtis.
And GOJ, I'm highlighting the entire state whines about Curtis, even those that haven't ever had the pleasure of facing them. I also think I've got a bit more of a personal involvement than most. For you to call me out is absurd, since I know full well you understand what this entire Select/Non-Select business was about. And it wouldn't have affected us-even without the split we still would have gotten Curtis. Doesn't mean I like having to face a Junior College every year that an entire state constantly changes rules around to play dodge-em.

Had Curtis played in 5A all along, no one is bitching about anything. No one complained when Evangel was killing everyone in 5a. It's the highest class, if you can't beat the best, well, then you arent the best. You cant complain

Nope. I said at the beginning of the year that our first team could match up to anyone in the State, but we were lacking depth. I think that proved to be pretty accurate. That they wore us down didn't surprise me, that our offense couldn't get on the scoreboard did. Considering that it should have been 6-0 at half kind of bore that out. (Their TD on the final play of the half occurred about 20 feet from me, and I'm pretty sure the first ref that marked him short made the right call. So, first team for both teams was pretty even. Depth was an issue. 100 kids, few players going both ways, versus a team of 53 with 15-20 playing both ways, means at some point fatigue makes a big difference.
