The most surprising part of the piece was the Michael Jordan comes off as a compassionate person with actual human emotion. You know you're super weird when you make Jordan look normal.

No kidding. Tiger is a different beast.

I thought it was kind of off towards the end how they keep saying how much he cares about what other people think/comment, but he has shown throughout his career that he doesn't give two shits about anyone outside of his inner circle.

They paint him as a family man and filled with regret about Elin and the divorce. I don't know--almost comes off as a backhanded way of Tiger trying to publicly admit his career is essentially over.

The 9 iron to the head is what fueled his downfall.

Ehhhh. It is written by Wright Thomson. He isnt going to be some shill/mouthpiece for Tiger. Wright comes up with his own stories. Guy is great.

It was an OK piece. Nothing too earth shattering in my mind. Weird introvert loses his dad and loses his self control and discipline. Nothing we didn't already know.

You already knew Tiger didnt really care about the Majors record? You already knew Tiger really wanted to join the military instead of playing golf? There was a shite load of stuff in there that was not known

I don't think it was meant to be earth shattering. It was meant to be insightful and opens up, quite well, a side of Tiger many people didn't know about even though it was already public knowledge.

This was pretty widely known/believed. There used to be all kinds of stories about him training with SEALs and shite.

That plus the toll his swing took on his body. I also think YE Yang's PGA Championship upset took something from Tiger mentally that he's never been able to get back.

This wasn't a series of one-night stands but something more complex and strange. He called women constantly, war-dialing until they picked up, sometimes just to narrate simple everyday activities. When they didn't answer, he called their friends. Sometimes he talked to them about Earl and his childhood.

I like to think that I can't wait for the eventual 30 for 30, but I'm not sure a 30 for 30 could do him justice. He went from being on a rail to becoming the most dominate sports figure the world had ever known to 100% completely over night falling apart. Yea, he did continue to win tourneys occasionally after the fallout, and had a spectacular year two, three, four years ago now (I can't remember), but he hasn't been anymore than a shell of who he was all over the course of a weekend.

At least Jordan was honest...to the readers if not to Woods personally.

Yep, could tell by how much work he puts into golf anymore. Just look at his place on the leaders board and it will tell you he didn't care about winning masters anymore.

Yeah, I thought it was really good. Wright obviously must have gotten a ton of inside information, even beyond the one or two off-the-record quotes. The most interesting thing to me is that he was basically on a self-destructive path with the military training and whores that it was eventually going to blow up, anyway. The crazy twist of fate is that the accident made it so public. He probably could have bought another year or two otherwise covering up the nonsense. He was inevitably going to get hurt. I remember reading something a year or two ago that he likes being injured in a way, to show how tough he is. That squares with this article.
