Houston’s killer three-point shooting boom is born from volume, not sparkling efficiency — something they learned last year. They’re on pace to re-set the records they set last year in both makes (15.4 per game this season) and attempts (44.9). Before the 2016-17 season, there were only eight instances of a team shooting 45 times or more from behind the arc in a single game. Houston might average that. And their coach wants them to shoot more. “We can definitely average more than we did last year,” Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni said before the season. “I don’t think we averaged 50. We could average 50 this year.”

It’s working. The Rockets have the second-best offense in the league (109.9 offensive rating) and a top-10 defensive rating, too. Clint Capela has been excellent, and this is why the Rockets signed P.J. Tucker and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute in the offseason, two excellent defensive wings who have been subpar career shooters. The two are a combined 32-of-95 (33.7 percent) shooting so far in Houston, which is good enough.

Earlier last week James had the longest steak in nba history of consecutive games with 6 three pointers made. Like he wasn’t already doing something every week the league had never seen.

Soft League . Soft Superstars. Soft game.

I now see why the NBA was initially reluctant to implement the 3pt. line.

Yep. He had 5 games consecutively with 6 threes made. The prior record was 4 games. If he can shoot 40% from three you can hand him the MVP now. Bc CC offense is gonna break records.

IIRC if they even hit their season average in 2 of those games, they would have won.

Mike D’Antoni is truly the Marty Schottenheimer of basketball. Both’s teams are/were fun to watch for sure.

Just in this first month.

- Became only player to create 90 points in one game twice In his career.

- wins WCF player of the week damn near every week.

- posted stat line the league has never seen. The one with 5 steals v Cleveland.

- became first player in league history to make 6 threes in 5 straight games.

He’s just out there having fun too. Not trying to break records. He’s just being James TBH. Gonna be a hell of a season for red nation.
