The NFL really needs to fix the mandatory extra point thing

If the margin is greater than 2 points, requiring the extra point after a walk off TD is retarded and a huge buzzkill.

The supposed reason they do it is because total margin is a tiebreaker or something (like the #10 tiebreaker or something that never comes into play) but teams never actually kick the point anyway, all they do is just kneel it.

The tiebreaker excuse doesn't hold any weight in the playoffs too.

The NFL loves it's overly lawyered up rules though.

LUL what? I'm not a Saints fan at all. Really not even an NFL fan. I was laughing my arse off at the ending.

But nobody ever kicks the point in this situation. They always just kneel it.

It doesn’t make any sense because what is the point of enforcing that rule but not others?

Like players without helmets and players on the field should move Vikings back 15 for this sham extra point?

Then clearly the playclock expired multiple times during all of that.

Then the Saints have defenders running in from the backfield while the Vikings were just trying to line up.

You waive all of that just so a team snaps the ball to kneel it anyway?

If the margin is greater than 2 then just walk it off...

Exactly. Pretty much every single rule is ignored after the TD because the game is over and everyone knows it.

It's stupid when the outcome of the game isn't in question. Makes no sense.

Then making the Saints send players out for it. Brutal.

I’m just curious why it’s the rule. It can’t be for betting reasons only right? What is the statistical score keeping reason?

Right. But the NFL shouldn't give a frick about the line. That's something that should stay completely unaffiliated with why they do things.

It's not so much the NFL... it's the fact that the Vikes took a knee and cost a lot of people a lot of money.

Doesn't that go both ways tho? If they had kicked the point wouldn't they have just cost a lot of different people money?

During the regular season you have to kick it for tie breaker purposes. No real point to it in the post season.

That's not why the play happens.
