The NFL Draft should be an 8-round snake draft

You play way too much fantasy football.

There shouldn't be a draft at all.

Giving the super bowl champs 2 first round picks seems not ideal

Exactly. If you're going to have a draft, the status quo is the way to do it.

Wining the league gives you an ideal pick going 32 and 33.

You think people complain about the pats now?

How is that ideal?

It's essentially 2 first round picks.

The worst team won't pick again until the very end of the 2nd round after picking first.

If I'm already good enough to win the super bowl, I'll pick 32 and 33 all fricking day.

That’s a terrible idea.

A better idea is to go back to a two day draft on Saturday and Sunday. I miss NFL draft weekend.

Not any real difference in pick 32 and 33. Usually teams give out about 25-40 first round grades depending on the depth of the draft.

This only makes sense if you're starting from nothing, like the XFL (or fantasy football). then it balances out.

The NFL gives the bad teams earlier picks to promote parity. Makes the Patriots run that much more impressive.

And for all their faults,(patriots are an outlier) the NFL has done a good job of keeping the playing field fairly level. Better than other sports at least.

Much less incentive to tank

Draft is a level playing field, but bad teams still get the top players

More opportunities for teams with a high draft pick to trade down and acquire more picks, and vice versa

Without having high 2nd round picks, the stakes are higher for the bad teams not picking a bust in the 1st
