quote:

NFL owners have reportedly brought up the idea of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones forfeiting the franchise. On Sunday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk cited a league source who said "multiple owners already have been discussing the possibility, which flows from Article VIII of the NFL's Constitution and Bylaws."

One of the sections of the article allows the commissioner to essentially force the forfeiture of a team if the owner "has been or is guilty of conduct detrimental to the welfare of the League or professional football" and a $500,000 fine is deemed "not adequate or sufficient."

quote:

Florio granted such a move "would trigger years of litigation" and explained the notion of applying it to Jones specifically "comes from the belief among owners that Jones instigated Papa John's CEO John Schnatter to disparage the NFL, blaming league leadership for ratings declines and, in turn, a reduction in Papa John's revenues."

Yeah, saw this earlier.

I think anyone in the league trying to say that Jerry hasn’t had the NFL’s best interest in mind, especially financially, would have a hell of a time trying to prove it.

In conclusion, frick Roger and his cronies.

As Cowboys fan I've believed that they won't win a title until he is gone.

But no way does this happen.

They'd end Jerry, not the Cowboys, no?

Florio really putting his reputation on the line by putting this out. Absolutely outrageous, I’m sure other insiders are laughing at him

This wouldn't end the franchise. It would just take it away from Jerry. This will never happen in a million years and this is just a click bait story

I think my chances of winning the lottery are astronomically better than this happening.

Florio is doing the League’s dirty work and publishing this story as a threat in the media to get Jerry to stand down

Good luck. Jerry has more money than most people in the world. You think he'd lose such a battle? Please.

Florio proving he's a Goodell lap dog.. no way in any universe is Jerry losing that franchise and if for some odd reason it went to the courts, the NFL would lose so much damn money and fans that concussions would no longer the reason why it all ended

It’s not about the case, it is about the pro-Goodell crew exerting their power and trying to corral Jones

The case will never happen, this is negotiation through the media

I’d love to know which owner is whispering to the media/Florio, Blank? Kraft?

So Jerry Jones being against Goodell and wanting not to extend his contract...is detrimental to the league...

But Al Davis SUING the entire league and specifically Pete Rozell for 11 years, wasn't detrimental to the league?
