They are also exempt from the 2021 Seattle expansion draft.

Unreal.

So I'm guessing Seattle is also allowed to draft and immediately trade other teams' players.

So what you’re saying is, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?

Yum...delicious haters tears.

VGK also won't be getting any of the $$$ that Seattle infuses into the league, if that'll dry anyone's tears a bit.

So, if Seattle fails to make the SCF in their first year...what's the excuse then?

You realize the NHL has a salary cap right?

You realize that VGK opened last season as a 500-1 shot to win the Stanley Cup...

That even the most optimistic predictions had them missing the playoffs...

And that they accomplished everything last season despite having to play FIVE different goaltenders in the first 2 months of the season...RIGHT?

Hell, the guy that got their first shutout is currently in the AHL.

So you didn't know the NHL has a hard cap?

I know that it's not germane to anything that VGK accomplished last year.

Now, feel free to respond with "the goddam Germans got nothing to do with it."

That's fine. What's the reasoning they get to be exempt though?

Admittedly, I don't have a massive knowledge of NHL history...but I'd imagine that most of the newer teams were exempt from future expansion drafts.

I don't either. If that's the case then I understand.
