Woj: Negotiations between the Los Angeles Lakers and Ty Lue have reached an impasse without a deal to make him the franchise’s next head coach, league sources tell ESPN.

Incredibly tough scene.

The Lakers are probably trying to lowball him.

ya. we are. he wants pop money on a long deal.

jeanie wants him to only get top 5 coach money on a shorter deal. they will settle for something in the middle before draft night... It will get done.

Guess that means you can't get any worse when finding a coach.

Discussions have included talks on contract and assistant coaching staff, sources said. Among Lakers hopes on a Lue staff: Jason Kidd. He made a strong impression with management in his head coaching interview and had a productive history w/ Bucks developing young talent.

Also Woj

Have the Lakers interviewed anyone besides Lue, Monty, and Kidd?

So how does Lebron figure into this? I'm guessing he changed his mind on Lue since he controls everything?

And Lue is at least smart enough to know you can't be Lebron's coach with a semi-attractive option as one of your assistants. He could be out by Christmas.

Lakers probably tried to throw in some language to give him no buyout if they fire him and no control over roster decisions.
