That's what we are saying if Alabama makes it into the playoffs.

It's incredible that we have to hope for a 13-0 season and win over Ohio State in the Big 10 championship game by the Wisconsin Badgers to keep Bama out of National Championship contention for the 2nd time in 6 years when they failed to win even their division, let alone their conference.

Stop spending so much energy on something that hasn’t happened yet.

We know conference championships were meaningless last year when Ohio State got in over the B1G Champion who had already beaten OSU on the field.

Bama is the best one loss team. Get over it.

And your title is completely wrong. It’s meaningful to AU and UGA.

The SECCG determines whether AU or UGA go the playoffs. It still has meaning.

There will only be more of this across the conferences with a jump to an 8 team playoff under the current committee format.

It cracks me up when the cover is blown off of CFB for some fans for the first time.

You just catching on to the fact that some teams play by different standards while others have to earn it?

Bama isn't alone, BTW.

That's what we are saying if Alabama makes it into the playoffs.
3 of the 4 teams will get in with at least 1 loss so if you leave out Bama then you're saying some other random game was meaningless to, so I'm not sure what your point is?

The job is to get the 4 best teams together. There's no rule that says 2 of those 4 cannot come from the same conference or same division.

I don't know why you're acting like this precedent hasn't already been set in a previous CFP year.

As opposed to 2 losses being meaningless? But continue with the logical fallacy of preferring conference champs. Despite the fact that y’all don’t care about winning your division/conference in any other sport

Because it didn't involve Alabama. It's only wrong if it involves that team from Tuscaloosa.

I personally don't think we belong in the playoffs but to act like there isn't precedent if we do get in? It just wreaks of petty jealousy and selective memory.

No...the precedent was set in 2001 when Nebraska got into the game without winning their division.

See what I'm talking about? Selective memory.

Nebraska got a rematch against a team that already beat them in 2001?

His point is that by losing to the only team Bama played with a pulse all year long, they are missing out on playing the only other team with a pulse in their conference.

This level of frickery should not be rewarded.

LSU is their best win and most likely their only win over a ranked team as of Tuesday.

LSU has only two victories against teams with winning records and lost to Troy at home.

Bama played Mercer instead of a real OOC game.

This is not the resume of a deserving "division runner-up" playoff squad, especially when your division sucks as badly as ours did this season.

Nowhere in the two posts that I was responding to, nor the OP in this thread, was a "rematch" ever mentioned.

But even if that weren't true, why can't the two best teams in college football be from the same division? Where is that rule written?

Read the tOSU-PSU posts above. Don't be obtuse.

The 8-9 game sample size of division play is the playoff before the playoffs.

If you can't win this scrub arse version of the SEC West, then you don't deserve an auto-bid to the final four.
