There's not a lot in New England sports as revered as Harvard vs. Yale or Fenway Park, so putting them together makes for an incredible pairing.

The 135th playing of "The Game" between the Ivy League archrivals will be held at Fenway Park on Nov. 17, 2018, Fenway Sports Management announced Tuesday.

Originally scheduled as a Harvard home game, it will mark the first time since 1912 that the venue will not be Harvard Stadium or the Yale Bowl.

"The Harvard-Yale football game is a classic matchup, and Fenway Park is a beloved Boston landmark and classic in its own right," Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said. "Boston looks forward to hosting Harvard, and all visitors, in 2018 for this iconic game."

The schools first met in 1875. Yale holds a 67-59-8 series lead after beating Harvard 24-3 on Oct. 18 to finish off an outright Ivy League championship.

Next year's game will mark the 50th anniversary of the epic 1968 meeting, which famously ended in a 29-29 tie.

Will this be a trend to see historic anniversaries of these games be played at venues such as Fenway or Yankee?

Nothing makes football better than having a wall two feet from a boundary.

I guess they could have it done like the Patriots, Colts, and Bears did and from plate to outfield wall? It was just Wrigley being stupid and press box "had to be in the middle".

Now I think about it, not sure if the Patriots ever played in Fenway, most likely at Harvard.

Always nice to watch my undergrad alma mater duke it out with Sabidojo's law school on the gridiron.

They played at Fenway some time in the 60s.

My alma mater would never get to play in a place like that. I mean multidirectional state schools are lucky to play in a cow field with the droppings removed.

Grambling used to play the Whitney Young Classic in Yankee stadium for years maybe a few decades.

Grambling also has to pay to play in those venues.

That's kind of cool and interesting. However, doesn't Harvard have some historic stadium that is deemed a National Landmark?

Also, didn't Notre Dame - Boston College play there not too long ago?

Yale gets GOAT status for the prank they pulled on Harvard 10 years ago.

Both schools have classic old stadiums in their own right. Even Harvard's, which is a good bit smaller, likely seats more than Fenway in a goofy football configuration.

Seems a silly stunt.

Steinbrenner had a unique relationship with Grambling/ Robinson and offered up Yankee Stadium. He actually sent the Yankees to play several exhibition games on Gramblings campus in the 1970's & may have been on the schools Board of Directors for awhile.

Steinbrenner admired what such a small program with limited resources accomplished so I doubt he gouged or charged them anything at all.

Grambling and other HBCU have to rent out stadiums they play their classics in. Most of the time the classics actually lose money for the school, but it is alumni or fan driven.

My high school plays the occasional hockey game there. The Soxs like to do that sort of thing and It’s fun for the kids.

I would rather see the game at Harvard though.

Be it gridiron or association, football played in a baseball stadium is the absolute worst.
