Iconic? I guess if it being old makes it iconic.
Don't be a hater, it is iconic. Name another collegiate venue like it, I'll wait.

HOw does a perpetual naming rights contract end ?
Good question. It probably has something to do with the fact that the Carrier Dome no longer looks like this:
But like this:
Carrier Corporation paid about three million for the naming rights in 1980. They got their money's worth. I don't know what kind of negotiations took place between Carrier and the school to get them to give up the naming rights.

In Louisiana, it probably would be. No AC at the Super Dome would kill people. On a 75 degree day in Upstate New York, you might sweat a little bit, just grab another beer.

It’s as simple as both parties agreeing in writing to end it.

Syracuse a shithole in a state run by shitheads
Don't bother caring about it

Old heads will probably still refer to it as the Carrier Dome like some older Chicagoans refer to the Willis Tower as the Sears Tower.

Alamo Dome, home to UTSA.
And there are other teams that also play indoors...N Dakota St and Northern Iowa to name a few. Are their stadiums iconic too?

Has there been a lot of historical events there?

The Alamo Dome is off campus and does not belong to the university. The Carrier Dome is on campus and owned by Syracuse. The Fargo Dome has less than half the capacity of the Dome. The UNI-Dome has even less capacity than the Fargo Dome. Both of those teams are in a lower division. The only power program with an on-campus domed facility is SU. It also has the most capacity of any college venue in the country for basketball, with over 13 thousand more seats than the next largest venue. You may not like the place, but it is unique and iconic. Those other places aren't.

So being on campus and having more seats makes it iconic?
Its a crappy, old, generic stadium that houses an average to below average football program. It's not iconic. Playing basketball in one end doesn't change that.

Yeah, being the only domed stadium for a major university makes it iconic. It's also in the middle of a $120 million dollar renovation. It is iconic, you being stupid doesn't change that.
