Sign stealing happens, using technology is the problem. If players pick up a players ticks and uses it that's fine.

i doubt houston is the only team doing this. hell, its even mentioned by the people in the article accusing them that they arent

It's mentioned in the article that the alleged guilty parties in Houston were doing it before somewhere else.

You can bet your arse if one team is doing it, with players involved and as often as some guys move teams, then almost everyone is doing it or knows about it.

I'm down with going NFL-QB route with earpieces for the pitchers & catchers in order to prevent sign stealing. And while we are at it, dump the homeplate umpire's strike/ball authority and give that to statcast.

Both would honestly speed the game up and make a better product.

I think this is the route we have to go eventually. It'll suck that catchers don't call games anymore, but it will help with pace of play and it'll totally remove sign stealing from the game

Well, shite, they've been banging drums in Oakland for as long as I can remember.

Fiers is a disgruntled, left off the playoff roster POS, regardless of anything else

His last outing vs the Astros, he was lit the frick up too. Seems like he could have used this knowledge not to have his signs stolen.

Astros were better on the road in 2017 and 2018, by a large margin. Set all time records.

This is a non-issue. They will never be able to eliminate what they are alleging, because it's impossible to prove.

Do they only bang them for offspeed pitches?

No surprise. Trashy organization from the top down.

Jeff Luhnow stole Cardinals intellectual property on the way out the door, so this fits the M.O.

The only issue I really see coming from it would be shaking off signs. I guess theres no real difference between shaking off a catcher and shaking off a coach in your ear, but it will be funny watching a pitcher shake off a catcher who's just sitting there like "hey man I'm just along for the ride"

No, it really isn’t an issue.

You can argue that whatever system they had/have hurt them more than helped

Easily was more of a disadvantage if they hit better with a better road record

Not to mention the burden of proof

Was it Red Sox or Yankees with the phone deal a couple years ago? What was their penalty, fine, lost draft pick situation?

If I have to explain.........

But seriously, I’m sure every team is looking for every advantage. They all have monitors in the dugouts with the game broadcast.

If a team has a system set up to improve their hitting in their home park, yet win more games and hit waaaaaay better on the road, what exactly is the issue?
