Am I wrong here? Crane simply cant put the fanbase through that rebuild and start getting short on money. He truly needs to make a blow away offer that would make him truly say no and test his want to go back out west

I usually dont like the idea of long term money and years for a pitcher who will be 30 next year, but this has to be an exception for the Astros

Let's leave those sort of long term contracts to the more mediocre franchises.

Yes, much like the Red Sox need to bring back Mookie Betts.

They let go of Charlie Morton and Kuechel in the off-season. And turned out to be a decent season thus far. I trust in whatever he wants to do.

I don't think people outside of Boston have talked enough about how weird that situation is

He's Yankee bound after tonight's performance.

Dude should be on the biggest and best stage in all of MLB

The idea of giving up a generational player to avoiding paying a very small tax on a venture that mints money is insane.

If that's his price the hometown Dodgers will sign him in a heartbeat.

I’d do 5/200, get him for all his prime years, and a chance to get a JV type deal at 35-36

That would put Cole at 33 when his contract ends. It's possible.

I just don’t see this front office offering like 7 or 8 years for 30+m a year for a pitcher even if Crane doesn’t care. I could see them going short with higher AAV but it might be tougher financially. Who knows. If they win a title Crane may pull the owner card kind of like he did with the Verlander deal.

From listening to him talk I do think Cole places some value on what Houston has done for his career where if the money is equal he would seriously consider coming back
