That was light work too

Me on page four before the tournament started.

This course should bump Rory's odds up to win.
The wider than normal fairways and distance should be a big advantage for him. Missed fairways has killed him in majors, but this course is going to help with that. You look at some of these fairways and it looks like a St. Andrews fairway.
I still don't think he wins because of his putting, but this course gives him a bigger advantage over most of the major courses in recent memory.

You always try to make arguments with me trying to tell me how good Rory is good. I know he's one of the best players in the world. I know he can be a good putter.
i don't think he is going to win and I think it's going to be his putter that does him in. I don't need stats telling me something I already know.

You tap yourself on the back, but Rory beat every single player you thought that had an actual chance of beating him. You never once thought him beating 155 players by two strokes, yet losing to Clark was a possibility
That’s why “I lick this guy not to win” is the weakest call in golf. It’s extremely hard to be wrong
If you chose any player besides tiger or jack, and simply said “he isn’t going to win this major” every time they played, you would be right 99% of the time on average
Pick the best major winner terminator for this board, if you simply said “brooks isn’t going to win this major”, you would be right 87% of the time.
And that’s with the best guy of this modern golf era in major play

The folks who say “I don’t think this guy is gonna win” then pat themselves on the back when he finishes solo second one shot back are hilarious. Great call!!!

And every single one of those people that said “he would never win a major” were complete idiots right?
That’s our entire point. Sweeping statements like that usually end up looking foolish
I have no idea if Rory wins another major. It's not my point. His game changes on Sunday, that's my point. This was almost a carbon copy of the Open in every way. Steady as she goes, but does absolutely nothing to chase down Cam Smith.
There's no doubt, players accumulate scar tissue after so much negative repetition, and guys that are fighting with their game in their 30s are fighting a much different war than what they were going through in their 20s. Spieth, Thomas, McIlroy, and Fowler, to name a few.

Even wasn’t bad at all yesterday, it was for the open though

I just typed out a mile long response to this and the internet briefly went out and I lost what I typed out

The point was he was going to lose because of probably one day of bad putting despite how good he’s been putting good recently. And yes, I’ll pat my self on the back for that when that’s what the debate was about.

Your prediction got bailed out by this guy
That’s why it’s so easy to be correct when you say “this guy isn’t going to win”

I'll try again, with a shortened version since the internet is sketchy and I'm pissed the reply didn't go through.
I never once said it was a hard bet. Ever. I have said multiple times though that it was an easy bet.
Curious, because I honestly don't know, how many times over the past 9 3/4 years Rory has been one of the 5 favorites to win the major. I would imagine quite a bit. Not a "Rory vs the field bet", which is very easy to take the field, but a "Rory vs the top 5 or so best odds", which is a tougher bet. Every single time I would take the other guys over Rory. How many times would other people pick Rory in that span? He would be bet on quite a bit, just not by me.
Rory is a bad arse golfer, and I like Rory, he is really fun to watch. I've said he might win 2 more majors at the most but more than likely just one. And given his talent, that's underperforming. His length and how well he takes care of his body will extend how long he will be in contention so that is a good thing for him.
I don't care about this much, but it's a fun debate. For some reason you've convinced yourself I hate Rory and and can't take it when someone has some criticism of him.
Me: I think probably one day this weekend his putting will let him down and cost him the major.
You: HERE LOOK AT ALL THESE PUTTING STATS (that I already know) THAT SHOW HOW GREAT HE IS PUTTING AND ITS DUMB FOR YOU TO THINK THAT
*Rory proceeds to lose because one day this weekend his putting let him down and cost him a major*
Me: Turns out I was right
You: It's easy to say he's not going to win and I'm going to ignore that you said it was a specific reason that I disagreed with.

Picking any one golfer to “not win” is an extremely easy bet. That’s the point.

As I've said, I know that, and have never said it was hard. Though for almost 10 years now, he has probably been bet on to win more than anybody, given how good he is and his world ranking over that span, just not by me. Me and pride have had this debate before. He has changed his tune from saying it would be dumb to never bet on Rory to it's easy to do that.

I’m saying it is a dumb bet to say “he will never win again” when it was brought up after the Open last year. So, there is still about 40 more majors before I would be proven wrong there

We can all agree that LACC has no business hosting a major ever again.

What’s the latest we think Rahm will announce for LIV Spain?

Rumors are that Rahm will announce he’s playing in it.

What’s really to stop him now? He plays LIV Spain and rolls right to Scottish Open. Are they going to penalize him for not playing Detroit and John Deere?
