Well they played in the same era where passing was equally as difficult so this makes sense.

No shot. Inflated by a passing league compared to aikman's time.

You're using QBR to compare completely different eras?

About 18 of the top 25 QBRs in history all played after 1998 with more rule changes.

I don't even know how to rate today's QBs or any player, the game is a facsimile of it's former self.

And...FWIW, I've watched a lot of Cutler...dude doesn't understand the game of football...he doesn't get how to orchestrate a drive, he doesn't understand situations...how to protect the football, how to protect your defense from bad situations...he's out there with a nerf ball during recess just chucking it around with a goofy grin. He's not really playing football...as a general on the field...he's just a hired arm without a clue.

Do these idiots realize how different today's era is compared to the '90s?

This is why we rate QBs on wins and losses... And why Kaepernick is out of the league

Jay Cutler is probably better than 95-98 Brett Favre, too

Meanwhile Cutler basically threw against air when compared to the rules Aikman had to deal with. He could have thrown for 50,000 yards had he played in a passing first offense, IDIOT! Emmitt Smith ran for how many yards while Aikman was the QB?

Did Smith make it easy for Aikman or did Aikman make it easy for Smith?

In their prime in 1994, the Cowboys averaged around 35 rushes a game.

Last year Dallas led the league at 30 rushes per game.

And this is why dan marino was >>>
dude put up the volume 2017 type numbers in the 1980s as well as the efficiency (YPA) and scoring (TDs).

Look at his best 3 year stretch: 1984-6
1076 completions (1754 attempts - 61.3%), 13967 yards, 8.0 YPA, 122 TDs, 61 INTs, 95.1 Rating

Per year would be:
359 completions, 585 attempts, 61.3 completion%, 8.0 YPA, 4656 yards, 41 TDs, 20 INTs, 95.1 Rating

Compare to the 2017 guys:
Completions: 13th
Attempts: 10th
Completion%: 20th
YPA: 4th
Yards: 4th
TDs: 1st
INTs: 2nd
Rating: 11th

Hell, look at his 5k year:
362 completions (13th)
564 attempts (12th)
64.2 completion% (15th)
5084 yards (2nd)
9.0 YPA (2nd)
48 TDs (1st)
17 INTs (T-3rd)
108.9 Rating (3rd)

amazing.

Top 10

1. Drew Brees, NO 5208
2. Matt Ryan, ATL 4944
3. Kirk Cousins, WSH 4917
4. Aaron Rodgers, GB 4428
5. Philip Rivers, LAC 4386

(the rest all above 4,200)

1984 Top 10

1. Dan Marino • MIA 5084
2. Neil Lomax • STL 4614
3. Phil Simms • NYG 4044
4. Dan Fouts • SDG 3740
5. Dave Krieg • SEA 3671
6. Joe Montana • SFO 3630
7. Steve DeBerg • TAM 3554
8. Paul McDonald • CLE 3472
9. Joe Theismann • WAS 3391
10. Warren Moon • HOU 3338

You had two guys in 1984 that were above 4,200.

Every guy in the Top 10 last year was above 4,200.

Andy Dalton was above 4,200 and he wasn't even in the Top 10.

My 2 biggest "what if" thoughts in sports, just to see what would've happened:

1. What if Griffey would've taken (more?) steroids?
2. What if Marino would've played with today's rules?

Dan Marino was tailor made to be an unstoppable force in today's NFL.

One threw less INTs, one threw for more yards, one possesses 3 Super Bowl rings, one was a Super Bowl MVP, one earned first-team all-pro, one went to more pro bowls, one's in the hall of fame. That player: Troy Aikman, case closed.
