Okay, so

*Texans pick up 13 yards on 3rd and 15
*Browns called for offsides
*Texans can choose between 4th and 2 or 3rd and 10
*They choose 4th and 2
*They then punt the ball away

The Kevin Stefanski reaction is amazing

No hyperbole, I’d fire my coach if he did that.

His response was something about field position.

2nd thread on this posted today, but it'll still go down in MSB and media in general as being woefully under reported.

I can't really get over this. I never post about firing a coach after making 1 dumb play call, but this is one instance that I'll allow it.

If I'm the owner or whoever reports to that coach...well I don't even know what to say, it's just that unfathomable what he did lol.

They won't fire him, but he'll stunt any possible development for Mills, they'll have him draft Rattler who has none of the makings of a NFL qb, much less a starter and he'll do shite with him next season and they'll be in worse shape at the end of 2022 than they would have been if they just rode it out with BOB.

Ironically the punt probably doesn't get into the endzone if they replay the down and don't gain any yards..

I might be wrong, but I think last week they did something retarded too. I was only kinda watching so maybe it wasn't what I thought.

On the drive where Trevor scored his first td, Jacksonville had a 3rd and long that they did not convert. Jacksonville also had an offensive penalty on the play. Instead of declining the penalty making it 4th and like 5, the Texans accept the penalty giving Jacksonville another 3rd down, which of course they convert and then drive down to score a td.

I didn’t see it until scrolling Twitter tonight. Checked the first page thinking there had to be something here but didn’t see anything. No regrets

By God, you're correct:

quote:

3rd & 9 at HOU 30
(13:12 - 2nd) (Shotgun) T.Lawrence pass incomplete short right to J.O'Shaughnessy (C.Kirksey). PENALTY on JAX-J.Taylor, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at HST 30 - No Play.

3rd & 19 at HOU 40
(13:06 - 2nd) (Shotgun) T.Lawrence pass incomplete short middle to J.O'Shaughnessy. Penalty on JAX, Illegal Formation, declined. PENALTY on HST-M.Collins, Roughing the Passer, 15 yards, enforced at HST 40 - No Play.

Certainly not saying I agree, but I assume the argument is to get them out of FG range, but still really stupid. But today's decision was an entirely new level of stupid.

I definitely didn't mean it that way. Was more so pointing out that there will never be enough threads started on it to make me feel that we talked about it enough.

You found it quicker than I could. I wasn't watching close enough to realize where they were on the field, so trying to push them out of field goal range may have been the reasoning. Backfired though.

Agreed.

Holy shite. It was the right move to decline, but then you pick up two yards.

Not sure it was the right move to decline but you either accept and have a third down play or decline and go for it. Not decline and punt.

It's amazing how much money these guys get paid to make idiotic decisions like this. A lot of moron NFL coaches.

What is even more amazing is that THIS guy has Houston 1-1 and a c-hair away from 2-0

Football is a strange game, boys.
