Tsitsipas and Nadal in the Barcelona final tomorrow.
Carrot stick takes out Djokovic in Belgrade. He will probably play Berrettini.

Karatsev/Djokovic was one of the best matches of the year so far. Maybe the best in terms of best-of-3 matches.
Tsitsipas taking it to Nadal early. With Djokovic's slight struggles so far in the clay court season and Thiem still being AWOL, maybe Tsitsipas is emerging as the co-favorite with Rafa at Roland Garros.

Nadal breaks to even the 1st set back up, and now Tsitsipas about to break right back.
Tsitsipas' defense when it looks like he's out of points makes him look like a young Nadal. He has the ability to work hard and completely turn around some points where he looks completely out of it.

Wild end of the second set. Tsitsipas fights off double match point, then blows triple break point on Nadal's serve, gets down 2-4 in the breaker, up two set points that were erased, then wins the set on a Nadal double and his own service winner.

Tsitsipas runs off four consecutive points in a 2nd set tiebreak to flip the script and send us the distance.
Tsitsipas was the better player in the 1st set, but lost. Nadal was the better player in the 2nd set, but lost. I would give the slight edge to Tsitsipas in the 3rd set.

I'd say Tsitsipas is playing his B or B- game on clay, while Nada is playing his C game on clay. Neither guy is completely sharp. Nadal has had a handful of passing shot attempts where he's made very uncharacteristic errors, and Tsitsipas has had a couple of string of errors that have cost him games right when it looks like he's going to take control.

3 hours and 38 minutes later, Nadal over Tsitsipas 64 67 75.
Lots of drama. Nadal had two match points in the 2nd set, then Tsitsipas had a match point on Rafa's serve in the 3rd.

Great match. Tsitsipas had control of that match point for a second. But, he shouldn't be too upset as he got out of trouble a few times himself. Now, have fun trying to play like that for two more hours in Paris.

Random note... Two days ago was April 23rd. On that date in 2001, Roger Federer entered the top 20 of the ATP World Rankings. He has never been outside the top 20 since.
When tomorrow's rankings come out, it will be exactly 20 years in the top 20.

Funny you mention that. I think they said today that ever since Nadal won his first Barcelona Open, he has been in the top ten like 800 straight weeks.

Yep! Rafa has the longest streak inside the top 10 in history.
I believe Connors has the longest streak inside the top 5.

Tsitsipas has put together a very impressive clay court resume.

But, he also just beat him in grinder rallies.
This is what I like about teetsy. He'll grind.

If he finds himself in the semis at Wimbledon, maybe it will be a Cinderalla destiny type run that gives him one more slam to cap his possible GOAT career.
Doubtful

I've never been of the belief that Osaka was that hot, but I would be a liar if I claimed I wouldn't play a little game of just the tip with her.

Looks like the men start Madrid tomorrow. I think Novak is not playing. The women are underway. I would like to play just the tip with this Spanish chick Badosa.

Holy balls on a couple of those forehands.
Alex just took out Rafa, which is not representative of much other than the quick conditions with the altitude. I think Rome is widely considered the most important tournament to prepare for Roland Garros. But, they will have a two week gap this year before RG.
