QB trade! #Broncos are acquiring QB Teddy Bridgewater from the #Panthers for a 6th-round pick, per NFL Network. Competition for Drew Lock, and GM George Paton gets a QB he’s familiar with.

Interesting. Wonder if this takes them out of the QB draft race

Atleast in terms of them moving up to get one

If competition is a synonym for replacement, that's accurate.

Trading for Darnold took them out of that, IMO.

Assuming the Pats-Panthers trade rumor is true, it may put them in position to get a huge haul to trade down with WAS or CHI for the last of the 5 first round QBs.

Both are super meh so I could see lock winning the job. He’s still got supporters in that building from what I’ve read

Is Carolina eating any salary? Even paying just a sixth that's a lot of salary.

If no, great move by the Panthers.

Panthers are trading to QB Teddy Bridgewater to the Broncos for a sixth-round pick, as @TomPelissero reported.

Panthers paying Bridgewater $7 million, Broncos paying him $3 million, per source.

Trade does not take Denver out of QB market Thursday night, per source.

Lock will really need to look far more consistent than he's ever been in training camp to keep the job because steady Teddy will. I don't think they make this move not to have Bridgewater start. They have all kinds of talent and just need a consistent guy to run the show.

ETA: If Denver is still in the first round QB hunt, they can easily take Lance and give him the 'redshirt' year every one assumes he'll need with Teddy around.

6th round pick and most of the salary getting paid by the Panthers, shows this is more insurance than going out to get a starter per say.

I’m not saying he won’t start, just that I don’t think he’ll just be given the job.

They turned down a Stafford trade because it including Drew Lock reportedly so they think something is there

It doesn't "show" anything. That just happened to be the price Teddy could fetch. It makes sense for them to guarantee a steady starter whether they get a future franchise QB or not.

That's only if they can keep keep Jerry from trading up for Pitts.

Where the 5th QB falls is now a really, really interesting question.

Washington, Chicago, even New Orleans come into play as trade up options
