Why stay 5 years when you can play 3 and move on to the NFL. That's what happens when you produce elite talent

Such a quality debate.

it's hard to debate when the only people that think TCU is an elite, top notch program, are TCU fans themselves.

Elite was thrown around a lot in this thread but I dont think I ever saw anyone define it.

IMO there are only like 5 elite programs in the country, so TCU not being one of them isn't a slight.

Do you also love seeing that elite talent (with gimpy knees) stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart late at night? "DUDE - You used to be AWESOME!!!"

Because all underclassmen who leave for the NFL wind up broke in 10 years working at Wal-Mart right?

Nope. But I'd be willing to bet that the majority who have career-ending injuries in their first 5 years are closer to broke than they are to "middle class" even.

FWIW - I think it's fantastic when the "leave early" guys come back to finish their degrees. It's just too bad that only about 25% of them ever do it.

Link. I'm sure some of these guys manage to find themselves some decent work somewhere (construction, etc.).

This is my point exactly. Please link to where I have said TCU is an "elite team", "going to take over college football" or other such nonsense.

TCU has had a great decade and is continuing to improve as the results of their success is realized. TCU's 2010 team beat every team they faced. They finished the season ranked #2 in both polls. They beat teams from 3 of the 6 BCS conferences this season. They were one of 10 teams that played in BCS bowls this year. They were one of only 3 teams to play in a BCS bowl both of the last 2 years.

TCU as a program has been routinely in the top of the total defensive rankings over the last decade. And before you bring up competition, they have also repeatedly held BCS opponents to scores lower than that teams conference could, sometimes to season lows.

I have refrained from saying that TCU would beat "x" opponent with any degree of definitiveness as nothing is certain until the last seconds tick off the clock. Certainly those that attempt to detract from TCU's accomplishments have fallen far short of this.

The truth is, fans of other good, great, and elite schools are threatened by TCU and what they have accomoplished and where they are going. Some persons here feel the need focus on a single dominant division of a single conference to compare TCU to while simultaneously failing to measure other conferences by the same scale.

You actually think this is a good point.

and TCU, would be at best the 4th best team in the SEC yearly.
And here we go. You're dealing with make-believe again. A lot of ifs and would bes have to be there for you to make your argument.

We here on the correct side of the argument deal with things that actually did happen.

No matter how good you wish TCU wasn't, where they would have placed in last year's SEC is irrelevant. It isn't worth discussing in the face of the fact that they were better than any Big Ten team.

More guesses to serve as crutches for your argument. They have a higher football budget than 90% of AQ schools, and they're joining an AQ conference. What actually makes you think they'll be irrelevant?

TCU has great talent compared to their competition,, but compared to the BCS conferences, they are middle of the road at best.
The Big Ten was the third best conference; TCU was better than any of those. Middle of the road, huh?

Until TCU can win 2 of 9 against Georgia, they'll never be elite.

good, cause I feel some people in this thread would rub it in that TCU was in a BCS bow despite a 4 or 5 loss season
Do you know how often that happens?

no team like TCU has proven to have sustainability over a long period of time. They will probably be irrelevant in 4-5 years. Maybe even as early as next year given their QB situation. That's just how it goes.

The same was said for Florida State in the 80s prior to joining the ACC in 1992....then they won the conference for 9 consecutive years.

At least one of you realizes that TCU is not elite, and oddly enough it's the TCU fan. If I were you, I'd disown people like Xwhatever. More people would respect your fanbase and realize you know your place in the pecking order if it wasn't for waterheads like him tooting a horn you don't even have.

I havent called anyone elite. It is subjective title that you seem to be stuck on.

I never owned him in the first place. From what I have read he has provided legitimate factual data to support his evaluation of TCU while sarcastically poking fun at you.

How victorian of you.

You fail to realize that respect is earned not appointed. You apparently bestow respect based on name alone. Tcu's "place in the pecking order" is well defined in the NCAA rules and regulations, and BCS definitions, you are the one who continues to ignore the rules that have been established.

What's more is you fail to realize that TCU fans could give a rats arse about whether or not fans of other schools respect us, we dont need your respect to take your trophies.

Have you actually read my posts. I've said that TCU has a good program/good team. I have nothing against you guys. I just don't like your horn tooters who try to pass you off as elite when there is no case whatsoever for it.

Probably a good idea.

He won't acknowledge that his little flames backfired, but that guy is a delusional as a Beatle on acid.

Link?

You earn respect by beating the respected. You do this once or twice every other season. The big boys do it 2-3-4-5 times a season. I mean for Christ's sake we had the same number of BCS wins this season has you have the last 3 seasons combined man. That's not how you get respect. If it's respect you want, then your program would take the game with Wisconsin, go up there, and beat them. You can't blow off a game with an elite program that is willing to bring you in and give you a shot to prove yourselves and expect to be respected. Doesn't work like that.
