surely they can find 85 players willing to sing that song, get into UT that if they weren't athletes would have ZERO shot at getting in, be treated like kings in a town like austin... At some point, there needs to be a line in the sand
Its so strange, for all of human history, crazy people/ideas were shunned so the rational people could maintain society
Now, crazy ideas/people are celebrated, and the rational are told to step aside for fear of being "tone deaf" or "insensitive"
I mean you yourself and many others (shel, slackster. etc)admit this stuff is stupid, and then back it up with "yeh its dumb, but you better allow it or you will be fired"

I was simply responding to the guy who was acting like the UT fans will care about the eyes of Texas if he starts losing. Whether or not they are singing the song will not save his job. Thats all

He’s saying this now to get his boosters and fans fired up but will walk it back if it has negative recruiting effects.

Why because it was sung once a long long time ago by performers with black face and has a similar tune to another historical song people don’t like.
Racists drink coffee should it be banned. Racists speak or have spoken English and probably have spoken almost every language of the world if we are fair to the true meaning of racism. Racists back then and today breathed oxygen, drank water, and used terms like black and African. People in black face did a lot of things like that as well.
I am sure some some who used to think blacks inferior or different or even just said or believed similar things to what blacks say or tweet about white people daily played parts in setting aside land and helped over the years build fund though “evil” oil from this land and with investments/bonds from oil money which have helped Texas system have such a large endowment. Maybe Texas should also return all that to state and/or natives of Texas as it has to be tainted as well.

Eyes is only "controversial" because the tune of the song is similar to an old song played at plays that were demeaning towards blacks. Cancel the ice cream man while we at it.
