I said last year that Washington could be a much better team than the year before and still only win 7 games. I guess Sark kind of agreed with me.

Lost to WSU. Missed a 35 yard field goal as time was expiring.
Beat Stanford. Outgained them and they did not score an offensive TD all game. How is that lucky?
Beat Oregon St. I could give you this one. They outgained us, but we forced 4 turnovers which were key.

I am saying that it could've gone either way. Just like the BSU game or WSU. To say you were 9-4, is to ignore the upset wins.

I'm not going to count Stanford as a game that could've gone either way. We were the better team that night (obviously not the rest of the season though), bottom line.
So we could have been anywhere from 6-7 to 9-4 and he chose to look at the optimistic side as the head coach of his football team. Not sure how that's delusional.

I watched that game and that was not the bottom line. That game could've gone either way. In fact, Stanford had the lead most of the night and UW ripped of two broken plays to score. And NUNES played like shite and Montgomery had hands of stone. You deserved that win as much as you deserved the losses against BSU WSU.

An unusual amount of affection/respect for Sark on this board, considering that he keeps talking big but has three straight 7-win seasons.
A team that is "really a 9-4 team but the record doesn't show it" does not lose to WSU. Even pathetic, dysfunctional Cal easily handled WSU in Pullman last year.
I think the weird love affair with Sark, combined with a slight contempt for Oregon fans has guided the course of this thread.

UW has improved. The problem: the rest of the PAC is trending up as well. The entire PAC - 12 north is better.

I agree. I don't get the love affair for Sark. You'd expect Washington to do a lot better considering their big city, history, and caliber of recruits they get every year. The leg humpers could do better than him, but i hope not. He's a nice guy though I'll give him that.

Yeah a lot of coaches have said it, but it really only has credibility if the coach has already produced that higher record in the past. Last year was Sark's 4th year as head coach, and the best he has done is 7 wins, so saying he really had more of a 9-4 team comes across as a desperate attempt to make himself look better than his record.
In contrast, Jeff Tedford inherited a 1-10 team, and at the end of his 4th year, he had two 8-win seasons and a 10-win season. And yet a lot of people keep thinking Sark is a great coach who has the program headed for greatness. All he has proven so far is that he can make UW bowl eligible on a consistent basis.
