"Houston almost beating Golden State those two years, that's almost as big an accomplishment -- or better -- than Golden State winning," Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash said last week on "The Old Man & the Three" podcast. "Before those seasons, it was like, 'There's no way anyone is gonna beat Golden State.' "

"We lose sight sometimes of the context in that not everyone can win. Some things have to fall into place to win that the winning team didn't necessarily count on, or do anything extra to create."

"Daryl Morey and Houston deserve a lot of credit, because when Kevin (Durant) signed with Golden State there was a sense that a number of teams sort of were unwilling to go for it -- 'We'll just wait this out,' " he explained. "To his credit, and to the Rockets credit, they swung for the fences.

"They were up 3-2 the first year and Chris (Paul) gets hurt at the end of Game 5."

This is a reason why when Steve said “I am ready to coach” he got to handpick his job. The man knows the league. Most talented roster ever assembled damn near got knocked off. Saved by an injury. V a non-super team.

I mean, what Nash said is obviously true to anyone that doesn’t have a bias. That 2017-18 Rockets team was incredible. It really sucks CP3 got hurt and they couldn’t cap it off with a title.

That was the year they were up like 20 in the 2nd quarter of Game 6, correct?

Something like that. A squad of one all star caliber player up against a squad of 4. the squad with 4 won out just like you would expect. 20 pt lead in the nba is nothing.

Why is he using the plural version of season? The 2018-19 Rockets weren’t ever a threat vs GS.

Tied up 2-2 and tied in the 3rd qtr of game 5 when KD went out.

No game decided by more than 2 possessions.

Right, no threat.

Exactly. KD went out and the Rox were still put down by a lesser version than the team Lebron beat in 2016.

I’m no fan of Harden, Paul, or the Rockets, but this is on point. They were playing their arse off before that injury.

They were helped by KD getting hurt.

HOU w CP3 v the Durant warriors in the playoffs:

HOU Had a winning record 5-4.

HOU was locked in to the offense that GSW Was playing. When KD went out they went to the Steph and green pick n roll and bzdelik let us all down with his inability to adjust.

This ain’t it Bubba.

A team loses a top 3 player in the league and the opponents chances go DOWN?
