A 6th round seems a kinda low, doesn’t it?

Pats were about to get nothing for him as of 4pm, so this is at least something. Not like they weren't actively trying to trade him before all this

Better than cutting him for nothing which would have happened later today had the Panthers not done this.

Haven’t been following this, but what’s the back story on why they were gonna cut him?

Value is limited given the injury, contract, and timing of the move.
He was going to be outright released so pats were lucky to get anything at this point

Gilmore gets to play against Winston. He may force him into a negative passer rating lol

He must have rolled his eyes in a team meeting to get shipped off like that.

He has to be re-signed soon and is going to be asking for a TON of money. So that’s part of the reason it was a late pick.

If you're a contender, I just don't get how you wouldn't want to give up, say, a 5th rounder for this guy?

Couple things specific to Gilmore
1.) appears that the Pats wanted to do right by Gilmore if possible in terms of facilitating a trade to a team he would like to play for. So I don’t think they would’ve flipped him for a higher pick to the Jets for example just to get a slightly higher pick
2.) cap space is very limited across the league at this point in the season. Not every team would be able to fit him in their cap without more time and maneuvering
3.) because he’s on PUP, since he was traded he still has to be on PUP until week 6, so a team who needs help now likely was hoping to get him as a FA so he was instantly eligible to play
